So i work in a forensic hospital.
I had an incident 2 years ago.
I used all sick pay, vacation pay, all e.i. even welfare before i got onto LTD.

Lets fast forward 2 years to todays date.
I have reached my 2 years at disability.
They want me to return to work.
My family GP says no way and has sent in his documentation for this "appeal process."
I am writing this so everyone else out there who is on LTD is forewarned about the lack of financial stability.
I have to apply for welfare or social assistance ( but you need a 3 wewk job search to qualify) i sent in an application saying i am in the process of my appeal with LTD and im in need of money for food rent etc.
I have to apply for CPP
I have to apply as a PWD.
I am retching all this a.m. from anxiety.
I cant believe i am a government employee with bcgeu union and this is what happens to me because my workplace has an incident that wasnt my fault.
To top it off the DAY my LTD reached 2 years my company posted my job.
They can pay me 75 % less than my regular job and relocate me.
Anyone else been through this?
I need someone to pay me!!

Are there any part times you could do meantime that would bridge the gap?

What all can you save on &
What of what you have, know or can do, or teach others doing, can you cash on?

Also, how much rent&utilities debt you *can* afford (Collections take time to take action / so many months one can save on fees before returning them money proper, while working on bouncing back to survivable meantime.)

yup, been there, it's a terrible position to be in.

Between GWL and WCB I've spent most of the past nearly 4 years with no income, living off of savings.
Both insurance companies will give you the run around during appeals, because their objective is to pay as little as possible and as infrequently as possible (they are insurance companies, after all). They count on a certain percentage of people giving up before or after benefits run out, and a further percentage either not appealing or giving up during the appeal process. The whole process is deliberately exacerbating, to see if you'll stick it out.

After dumping GWL and dealing only with WCB, after the third appeal and 7th (?) CM, there was an offer to send me for a 1 week 1-handed typing class, which would count as "retraining" for a new "career"... as a minimum wage secretary, an over 50% drop in income (and 100% drop in job satisfaction). I made it clear that that is not "retraining" or a "career", and stopped answering their calls, letters, and emails about the "retraining", and refused to sign any paperwork. I dropped them too last year, after they finally accepted my claim, apologized for how I was treated for the previous 3 years, and then continued to treat me the same way they had apologized for.

With an insurance company in the mix, employers only listen to those opinions and not your doctor's. After I dropped both insurance companies, my employer can only accept my doctor's opinion, which shockingly is directly opposite of the insurance companies. There's no income, but there's much less :poop: and it's only coming from 1 direction: from my employer. Much better than 3 organizations yanking my chain.

No advice really, just saying I've been there.

Hell yes thanks for the honesty!! Love it. They try to f*ck around. Thats their job. Ill fight it via union lawyers. But im also looking for work. Love how they retrained you as a typist and offered you minimum wage. Wow eh. Im in the same boat. Im a governemtn worker supervising and i can work at a .... FOOD COURT !! I maje 18.31.
Minimum wage in canada is now like 14.00
I told the woman from disability to watch what she says to me because shes walking on a thin rope. I reported what she said to my lawyer feom my union and she said she must be new there. But really the woman is right. Mental health and addictions all these years of service and i get less money than the patients who harm others! Unbelieveable. Makes me furious. But im moving up and on. Same to you!! Best of luck eh
