I don't unfortunately have any advice for you either. But I'm on your side and wishing you well.
I hope it all works out ok for you and your daughter, who thank God sounds like she's got a decent head on her shoulders.

It kills me too, because if there was at all a possible chance that he was trying to be a good dad for once in his life by wanting to give his daughter a car... That makes no sense even still. My daughter has a few grand left on her braces that I've been paying off. She has school expenses, she has college coming up. We also pay all her airline travel expenses for her to even see him, and that's not cheap. And how would just deciding that you're going to get her a car without even consulting the people actually doing the parenting. It's so out of the blue. He doesn't know if she can be trusted with her own car, or how well she drives, or even if she's ready for that. He just decided himself to get her a car, from who knows where. It makes no sense at all, unless he's up to something nefarious, and I really believe the school contacting him has just stirred all this up.
