^^ well, you have your next session topic now. I a, so thankful that mine doesn't do that. I would quit. We have even discussed that he doesn't do that and that I would quit. It is hard enough to go every week. I go because I want to feel better but quite honestly I lived almost 40 years without therapy so if I had to sit there in silence, I just wouldn't go.
I think you need to let your therapist know how much this is effecting you. As well, I don't know that "saving" you is the right term. You aren't asking for him/her to save you but it's really hard.. So, perhaps you can come up with ways to eek into the conversation, perhaps a plan that gets the ball rolling. My t always asks me how my week has been and I usually say "busy" then asks "well, how are you doing" then it usually transitions in to what has gone on in my week. Or, he will just jump in to a topic that we have discussed and thinks we need to work on. If I don't feel like I can do that I am free to say "not sure I can talk about that today." He then goes in to the discussion about the things you can't talk about are generally the things you need to discuss. It eats up an hour easily. Anyway, I think you should come up with a plan. Maybe your t will ask an opening question to get the ball rolling... Good luck.
