Welcome to the Forum. In the SOCIAL section here on this Forum, you will find a thread called PRAYER REQUESTS. You can post your prayers there and that would be good, right. There is also a thread called CHRISTIANS UNITE! and you will find other who too know that we are healed by His stripes. Enjoy.

No deity has been able to cure my PTSD. I'm just a tiny bit skeptical of the claims that any religious figure can. I wonder how many abused children around the world are literally beseeching the heavens as of this very moment for the abuse to stop. I know I sure did when I was a child, and no help came. In my opinion, any decent deity would prevent rape, torture, and child abuse from occurring in the first place.

I claim to be a Christian but I believe in modern medicine and modern psychotherapy. The fact that most Christian's I have found think that psychotherapy is not Christian and then try to brow beat you into believing that you just need to have "more faith" or you would be healed, therefore the fault is with you and your lack of faith is the problem is absolute mental and emotional abuse in my book. I had a big blow up with my bible group over this and I told her for her to self-righteously condemn anyone for getting help that they so desperately need and it not come under her idea structure as to what is "ok" for a Christian can leave people suffering with PTSD in an absolute suicidal situation and who the hell was she to determine that people don't need meds when a MD says they do. Who appointed her God? I grew up in a non-religious home and I didn't see God show up during my abuse. Nor did he save me during or after it. I have had to use psychotherapy and pharmacology to heal. My shrink helped me take out the trash in my belief systems so I could even begin to accept that there was a God and have faith in anything especially when my abuse came from my parents, so called friends and society. So you can pray, and I hope that works for you but if you are having physical symptoms from PTSD you need someone in both fields of medicine to help you as well. Don't let your faith stop you from getting the help you need in this area and don't you dare feel bad for needing the help.God wants us whole, and sometimes we need a lot of help to get there.

I go for psychotherapy regularly and I also see a psychiatrist for medicines to help me. I pray as well, because it helps me to feel better in many ways. I do not feel badly about needing help from many doctors and healthcare practitioners as well as needing help from my church. I am so sorry that anyone used religion as some kind of negativity toward any of you. How awful! In general, from my experience, churches have been very helpful and loving toward me. They have helped me out a number of times financially after I was in a mental hospital. They have done such things as pay my bus fare so that I could get to my Dr.'s office. Also they have helped me write a budget so that I could save enough money in order to go to my dentist and have eleven cavities in my teeth drilled and filled. People from a church also helped a friend of mine get to her Dr.'s appointments by driving her there and back. The Doctor's office was over 100 miles away. Also, a lady from my church drove me to the hospital on the day I had gall bladder surgery. She got up at 4 am to get me there on time. After the surgery, she drove me home too.

I haven't been healed, not 'by his stripes' or by anything else. So why have I not been healed?

Your silence speaks volumes.

"shhhhhh...let's just not respond to Void's justifiable questions and maybe no one will notice how illogical our statements are....after all, if we avoid having our beliefs exposed to scrutiny we believers can avoid discussing our logical fallacies....shhhh....keep very still maybe it'll blow over.... God Will Save Me

So true...
I'm a christian too and what so many believer don't understood is that not always does God fix our problems or bring healing. Many, many times He just simply carries us through the storm. He says: MY GRACE IS SUFFICIENT FOR YOU, FOR MY POWER IS MADE PERFECT IN WEAKNESS. 2 Corinthians 12:9. The apostle Paul prayed 3 times, the story goes in 2 Corin 12:1-10 for his "Thorn in his side" to be healed but God told him no. Many believe that its possible the "Thorn in his side" was from the traumatic event of being stoned nearly to death which means that it is quite possible that he suffered from PTSD too but there was no name for it then. All I know is that if the apostle Paul was carried through life with this "Thorn", then God will also carry all his other children through their lives with their "Thorns" too for HIS GRACE IS SUFFICIENT!!
