DID DID Treatment

However, other modalities like DBT might work well for PTSD and not for DID, since skills learned by one part do not always translate to other parts
This has been my experience for sure. I’ve done yoga and Zen meditation for years and while it certainly has helped my adult self to be calm and clear headed, it has had no effect whatsoever on my parts. If they detected a threat, they would just push me out, no matter how enlightened or blissed out I felt at the time.

:hilarious: That reads like someone(s) doing their job just fine though.

.... So on the therapy lane, & if you live in ongoing trauma, don’t let the therapists minimize it for you, not even single one of you, you DO know better. Maybe what you think is going on ain’t, but something is, so ignoring it will not lead anywhere.

Think that piece about bad therapy also needa sticker.
 
So does processing traumatic memories when you have DID mean that you are able to remember and feel at the same time without dissociating or switching? I am kind of struggling with this.
 
IME with less involuntary & fairly uncoordinated dissociating & switching.

Like, the switching is still gonna happen, so is the dissociating, because been used to do that for so long / whole lifetime, but far lesser with the I looked whaat? I said what? I did whaat? moments.

Edited, & less requiring outside assistance, because more self sufficient as a grouperson.
 
My score on the DES was 33 which pushes me into the right bracket.
I have had a score slightly higher and I don’t have DID. It’s just a screening tool, not a definitive test.

If you do treatment for trauma with someone with experience with DID, they should be able to see as you work through trauma and symptoms if you have it or not and adjust accordingly. Or you could go through with her formal evaluation and get a more definitive answer.
