Oh man, and I thought I was the only one who was doing this. I've got a camel ... yes a camel. I bought it before going to university as I was going to move away. I was having a hard time thinking that I would leave my kids - youngest was going to be 18 ... ok I know. anyways, when I saw this camel stuffed toy I thought right away, man this camel will help me go through what I have to go through. After University was finished and I had finally moved to an appartment in a more permanent way, I put him in a box, forgot about him until I got this ptsd. the only thing I have a problem with now is that my grandchildren really like him, one of them even kidnapped my camel for a couple of days. It took my daughter and me time to figure out where he hid my camel. I call him "Chameau" that's camel in french. I really need Chameau, and he was really a help during the night as that was really my terror moments for so many years.

After I was molested when I was six, I had no one to comfort me, so I took all the stuffed animals we had and put them around me in bed, like a wall. They were my protection. Lots of dolls and animals. But I usually had someone special, too.

I had a doll my grandma sewed me from pre-printed fabric, very ugly. I called her Stuffy, and she was my constant companion until she fell to pieces and had to be thrown out. I was desolated. Then I had GoodBunny- very soft and floppy. I gave him to my Grandma when she was dying of cancer and she kept him in the hospital with her. Later, when I was in college and the memories started coming back, I had a mouse. The mouse went everywhere with me- even Europe. He sat on top of my back-pack behind my head. He got lost about eight years ago on a trip. So my husband bought me dog- a big floppy dog. I sleep on him every night. He doesn't really have a name- just Dog. He has such sympathetic eyes.

For Christmas I got a little Eeyore from Santa who sleeps with me and goes in my knitting bag when I have to be out.

When I lay in bed between my husband and my animals under lots and lots of covers with our cat sleeping on top of me I feel safe enough to sleep.

I only keep my old toys around cause they are highly collectable and worth money. My favourite is my Dennis the Menace doll that I won when I was 5 years old.

I have quite a collection of bears, that slowly dwindled down the years thanks to my kids knicking them but I still have a crowd on top of my wardrobe including my childhood bear that brighten our room up.

Several have been presents from my hunny to keep me company whilst he was deployed and I have "Boofles" who sleeps in my bed when hubby is away and a "Tatty teddy" who lives on my computer desk for cuddles when im doing research and need a quick panic relieving cuddle.

I have a small red teddy bear but unfortunately one of my old dogs found it and made a chew stick out of it. :(

I have a teddy bear collection that I started about 5 years ago. I didn't really know why I was so attracted to having those cute, soft little toys, but now I know that it was because they comforted me. I have one sitting on the bed at all times. I never thought to snuggle with it, but I may try that.

I gave my children my favorite stuffed animals and they gave me the same stuffed animal they have, a bigger version. They actually agreed amongst themselves to share the cute small one. I really miss them. I am keeping all their stuff animals, I'm simply love stuffed animals, they don't talk back, or talk negative to me!

I love the idea that they don't talk negative and don't talk back! :)
