I have a stuffed bunny that I keep near by. I don't sleep with it or anything, but I do find it comforting. It is the only thing I have left that my dad gave to me. I think I treasure it more because of the sentimental value it holds.

I have 4 cats who do a 'changing of the guard' when my partner leaves for work, so I go from cuddling him to cuddling them.

I actually slept with a stuffed animal that my abuser had given to me for almost 18 months. I knew that it was time to get rid of it but I was very attached to it. So I got another stuffed animal that was different, but the color was the same....that way I would have a smoother transition. I'm very happy with it. :) Oh, and this is my first post. :P

I have George, a toy monkey. I cuddled him after I took my overdose and waited to die.

But Gorgeous George did not let me down. I survived and love him.

My first thought was me slyly saying noooooooooooooo....LOL.

Yes, I have my teddy bear from when I was a child and a teddy bear my boyfriend gave me (he is incarcerated). I sleep with them every night. :p

I have a dark blue, crushed-velvet teddy bear that I will hold to my chest if I am alone and crying/upset. I don't need it very often anymore, but it's comforting to have whenever I do.

I have a cuddly mouse that goes everywhere in the house with me at the mo. Am feeling verly vulnerable & fragile & reliving a lot of early traumas so finding it very comforting, along with starting to suck my thumb again!! and spending most of my time hidden right under the covers in a tight ball. It makes me feel more secure at a time when everything about me is insecure. If I could take it out with me, I would - maybe then I wouldnt end up having so many panic attacks :s urgh!

I have a purple bunny I have used on occasion. Now I have a small dog that took the bunnies place. She sleeps by my head. But if I need my bunny she is not far away.

No, but my wife just read an article on PTSD dogs. Evidently they train dogs to reconize your symptoms such as anxiety. They then comfort you by gently lying on you foot or other calming methods. I know it sounds a little crazy, but I love dogs and thought this might be a pretty cool option. I don't know how much it costs or how long they have to train the dog for though. I wouldn't want to get attached to a dog that only has a few years left.
