Does Anyone Have Nightmare Thoughts? Aka Am I Crazy In The Coconut?

Thanks everyone for your help :)! My thoughts are sometimes just like horrible images - when I'm exhausted, like creepy spiders or something - can that be PTSD too? Some EMDR retraumatised me and it was all about creepy, scary images. Man, I just feel so scared ALL the time and don't know how to calm myself down.


How do you guys manage this stuff?

Right now I'm trying to get some shut eye and the creepy intrusive images, they all seem like weird daydreams about scary things are just frightening me. I guess trying to accept that they are the product of panic and nothing to actually be sacred of? I mean really they are just flickering thoughts or images in my mind...just scary to not feel in control and have scary things pop up.
 
I had to quit EMDR for a time till I was in a better place. Have you spoken to your therapist about all of this? EMDR sometimes will trigger other stuff that you don't know is tied to the current trauma.

Once we backed off we working on grounding techniques (ok so we went at things kind of backwards)
Do you have any grounding techniques?
 
Slow exposure, for managing it?

As in, take an aspect of creepy horrifying thing that is less or not at all horrifying, and you can manage, and sloowly work toward being at peace (or at least not so disturbed) by the whole thing?

(Not sure if it helps, but with spiders and crawly crap specifically, I start with size. I'm bigger. Which means they're Goddamn Gone, if they don't wisen up and move it, far away from me.)

Dunno if it helps, but you could also think of all the ways you are safer, because of your current location, being far (or far enough) from an abuser... and if not far, the change could complicate her piss poor plans.

You may be in an unfamiliar territory, but that can be more useful for self protection and playing your hand, than not, is all I'm saying :)
