Does Anyone Sleep With The Door Shut/locked?

I feel the same way, and I also can't sleep with mirrors in my room.. At daytime it's fine, but as soon as it gets pretty dark it creeps me out.

Right now I'm having issue and I can't even sleep in my room. But I'm a no door person. I want to be able to get out more than sorry about keeping people out. I took my closet doors off a little while back too. I have been sleeping in the living room, which has two open door ways and two windows.

I also need a little ight, both inside and out. The house I bought is in a neighbourhood with lots of street lights. I even have one in the back corner of my yard. You can see even inch of my yard at nighr.

Wow this explains why my sister said I live in the night light house, lol. I always shut my door. And I would never be able to sleep if any of my limbs were hanging out.

I used to only be able to sleep with the door open before my symptoms, but now definitely closed, and sometimes with books or something against it to ensure it stays closed. There is something comforting in only needing to be anxious of a finite space, than the whole apartment. I'll leave the closet light on too, white noise app on on my phone, my noisy fan on, and pepper spray by the bed. You are most definitely not alone on this and I'm comforted that I'm not the only one with the door closed.

I live alone, and nights are the worst.

When I stay with others or have a guest in my home, I can sleep with the door unlocked, but when home alone, I MUST have my bedroom door locked.

So, yes, 99.9% of the time, my door must be locked. Also, I must have nightlights on in every room, and I have other 'protections' as well.

I don't even think about it.

My door is closed and locked, my bed is situated wherever I can see best. I prefer my bed to be as low as possible to the ground, actually. I even installed a very dim, dark colored light specifically for sleeping. That way I can still see, but it doesn't feel like there's a light on when I close my eyes.

But really, it's funny because I don't even think about why I have that preference. It doesn't seem important, I guess because it's just plain habit by now. Only thing that does really bother me is having the door open, however. It just seems silly to me not to close it?

Maybe I'm just accounting for risk that doesn't really exist. Like I do for everything else, always. XD

I sleep with my door closed. If I feel extra unsafe, I lock it. I'm fast in locking my door. And I do sleep with a knife next to me, wither on top of the nightstand, or inside the nightstand's open drawer, on the inner corner for easy access.
In an hotel room, I leave the key on the keyhole, with the door locked, and I make sure the key inside the lock is in an horizontal position, so that it can't be pushed back and fall, enabling someone else using something to unlock. I have in some occasions put a chair in front of the door, or something that would make noise, if I felt it wasn't safe, that there was a chance of the wrong person going in.
I once stayed at a friend's house, alone, and the door to the backyard couldn't be perfectly locked.. I thought I could deal with it. Hahah.. Well, I couldn't. I stayed up all night, and since it was an old house, it had a lot of noises, and I was hyper-vigilant beyond my normal measure.. I would often go check, me and my dilated pupils and accelerated heart-rate, each time very sure someone got in. I ended up taking a kitchen knife with me, and only slept 15 to 20 minutes tops, each time.
Next day I told him he needed a lock. Oh and I did put a chair etc, in front of the door, obviously  :roflmao:

Ah! Right! Regarding lights, I do turn them off. But after I fall asleep, when I'm worse or more tense, I turn them on while asleep. Sometimes it's funny, in a dark humored way.. I spend the night in a fight with myself, where the conscious Rui turns off the lights, and the traumatized-sleeping-Rui turns them on, over and over and over again.. :playful::facepalm:
And many times I wake up, and automatically I'm already halfway turning on the lights fast as lightning to check on the ...well, whatsoever was in my head while sleeping
I can be quite active in my sleep, but the best, even if confusing, is when I can't remember at all what happened on my nightmares. Also, I have slept with my eyes open. Which creeps myself out.

My disabled sister lives with me now, but before that I always had to have the door shut all the way in order to sleep. Now I have to leave it cracked :-(

Opposite problem. Need to have a way out. I like to sleep in the living room which is close to 2 ways of exiting the property. Those doors are of course locked! Don't like to be in a closed room from which I can't get out.

I physically cannot sleep with the door open. It scares me too much. If I hear it open (even quietl...
Yep, I have that too, it depends whether or not I am in a trigger.

The last couple of years with an abusive ex I was actually locking myself into my personal bedroom to get away from him. So naturally yes I do have that problem.
