The best "piece of exercise equipment " I ever had was my siberian husky. He was my faithful running companion for 10 years - until my exhusband injured him badly and I had to put my dog to sleep. I also had a cat that would go running with me and my next dog. I had that cat for 17 years and the dog for 15.

Pets are amazingly motivating in terms not only of exercise, but just going out and being generally active. I know there are many days when if it wasn't for my dog and her incessantly eager pestering to me to go out, I doubt I'd leave the house. But my commitment to her and my desire to do right by her sometimes feel like the only things that are stronger than my fear of the world. Besides, having her with me when I'm out and about offers me a huge sense of added security and calm which help to deal with life's triggers. She's also a service dog, so goes everywhere with me, which is an added bonus for which I'm thankful every day.

Yes, improves my attitude BIG time! If I am able to do it, and as long as there is upbeat music to dance to (my dancing is really just moving to the music like we used to in clubs) or my FAV, is being out at the park. I love nature, and we have some good trails.

Yes, it's about getting off this A$$...LOL...the hardest part!

Out in nature, I feel much more spiritual, and closer to God than church actually. I try to notice the small things that we take for granted. I prefer going where I can see nothing manmade. THAT can be hard to do!

If I can 'wake n shake' first thing in the morning, I can spend the rest of the day congratulating myself, instead of my usual inner be-otching.

Exercise helps a lot. I exercise at least 6 days a week with lots of cardio for at least 30 minutes. I find when I don't exercise I cannot focus on anything and get more panic attacks.

I have never been an exercise person until about 4 years ago when i decided to try and get active. I have to say over the last few years exercise has been the best thing for me, better than any pill you could give me. I am forever saying exercise is the best medicine and people think i am puddled but i have seen what it can do for your mental wellbeing .

At the moment i am not active :( because the sheer lack of interest and motivation to do anything has taken over. I really want to get back to it but am finding it difficult especially cause it is very disheartening to see the fitness i have lost, the weight gain etc etc. I do believe if you can force yourself to get active that you will reap the benefits, i have been in dark places and a workout has gone someway to pulling me up a little. I only hope soon i can get back to being as i was for the sake of my mental and phsyical health and of course the way i feel about myself.

Rene it will definitely help, i never thought i would be an exercise convert but over the years i have been converted. I use to do my upmost to avoid physical education at school but bringing exercise into ym life really was something i have been missing out on over the years, maybe if i done it sooner i could saved myself from alot of dark moments.

It isn't an instant fix and is hard in the beginning but my advice to anyone give it a go you have nothing to lose but so much to gain. On that note i have had the kick i need, writing this is bring bit of my passion for it out and i am going to head to the gym and go gently see how it goes.
