The best thing you can do to keep depression at bay is to get active. Depression is a chemical imbalance, and things such as exercise and physical activity create chemicals which actually help to rebalance the composition. This is why exercise is such an active part in keeping depression at bay... because it truly does work. The hardest part for you is getting yourself out the door and actually going for a walk, a run, join some social club, ie. indoor sports, social sporting group, etc. Go put your name down with something, regardless whether you have played it or not, are good at sports or not, go put your name down for indoor soccer, netball, basketball, cricket, etc... they all have men's and women's teams nowadays, mixed teams and so forth. Any type of local sporting / adventure group, get involved and active and you will rapidly find depression is removed again. It seems these last few weeks my depression has just gotten worse and worse.
You can be seriously depressed, go for a 5km walk, and by the end and the next 24 - 48hrs you will have little to no depressive attributes. If you want to control depression without meds, then you need to get active into something physical in order to achieve this.
