Defensiveness, outbursts, hanging up the phone, etc. are just a few examples of my man-child's go-to "conflict resolution skills". Is this a symptom of PTSD or just a sign of emotional immaturity or both? I've made the decision to not internalize any of this, but it makes me feel like I'm dealing more with a 5 year old than a grown ass man at times. Anyone else feel this way?

This would be a really good topic with you and your therapist, I do not know so I cannot offer any help. Wishing you the best.

IMHO it's a function of a sufferer who does not know the proper way to handle situations so he resorts to these juvenile sorts of things.

Is he in treatment? Is he learning how to cope? If not, maybe you'll just have to get used to this behaviour.

I have rage explosions and i also have haulted emotions most at around 12 yrs old but some younger so some of my actions are "immature" but its not because im immature, just that i didnt have a chance to mature in some areas or gain correct coping skills thus my coping skills today suck until i can learn better ones.

Therefore this could be his trauma and PTSD or it may not be. Its honestly best for you both to have a therapist so he can gain the tools he needs to recover and you can gain the tools you need to better cope with the challenges this causes.

If you stop and think about it a moment... Why are some actions considered juvenile? Because kids do them, right? Okay. Well why the hell do kids do them? Because they're learning.

Having PTSD, at least for me, has meant having to entirely relearn how to; interact with people, deal with my emotions, prioritize needs and wants, hell. Even how to breathe, sleep, eat, get dressed, employ my time.

No childhood trauma, here. These were all things I was eminently capable of. But I still had to relearn them. Wasn't pretty. Isn't pretty. But then, it's not pretty when toddlers and teens are doing it, either.
