Family Not Willing to Understand PTSD and You

Have any of you had a family member refuse to understand what you are going through? Which caused problems...

I was diagnosed with PTSD late in life from circumstances surrounding my husband's death. I collect social security disability because of my diagnosis. My two sisters constantly berate me for being "lazy" and a "welfare cheat". (These are two college-educated professional women!). They think nothing of calling me and berating me about how I spend my money, my choice of living location, and that I don't have a job. For several years I believed the "myth" that I needed family in my life. I have recently cut ties with anyone who does not positively support me, and am doing much better because of that decision. I believe their negativity fed my depression and confusion. I now have time to concentrate on myself and making new friends. What a relief!
