New Here
First time here.Diagnosis PTSD after an assault I am suffering same symptoms of fear getting out places. I feel like everybody wants to hurt me anytime. All the time hypervigilant. I can not stand the anxiety, náusea, cephalea, palpitations and tremor. So every time I feel like that I decide to run to my car, lock the door and go back to home. Any help please? Thanks for having me here.

Welcome!

Are you in therapy now?

At one point I was forcing myself to go out, even if just for a little bit, even though it meant that I’d need a few days to recover. Slowly the fear subsided... it wasn’t easy in the least. My anxiety would be sky high. I’d have panic attacks... But, slowly and surely my symptoms started to improve

Maybe instead of intensively, you can try softly? Set up a boundary for yourself, when you start feeling antsy you go back home.

To be honest, I hardly schedule things with people so I can have the freedom to go home as I please without feeling guilty.

Baby steps.

Welcome to the boards. My husband had the same symptoms and it got much better thanks to CBT. Hope you get better soon.

Hi, I have been trying to force myself to go out more intensively since my therapist told me that this is...

I think the therapist is very right about this but sometimes you have to do babysteps. I think feeling the fear and doing it anyway has been proven to be effective over and over again.
Sometimes you have to start with small steps. Let’s say you are afraid of the mall, do not start forcing yourself to go to the mall but force yourself to go to a small Icecream palor near the mall und get used to this first, first for a short time, then for a longer time, then you might feel ready to spend a short time at the mall, then a longer time, you know, babysteps.

I sincerely appreciate your help, I have been trying to find a forum for PTSD for a long time and just found it last night. I am very happy now to interact with wonderfull people who share their experience. I have been suffering PTSD for the past 5 years. Thanks a lot.

I am glad you found as after such a long time. I think we have a lot of people/spouses of people here who have that fear of going places... and if you have a question about how this board works you can always ask us.
