you're already detached from it
Yes! :p Not such a big thing giving something away when you don't own it!

where people can't actually accept that a limb belongs to them
Gosh I haven't heard of this. Unless it is a version of the alien hand syndrome (I think thats what it was called) when the right and left brain cant communicate. But this
but it was his own
sounds very different and horrible and I understand why you felt as you did.

The throat, for example, representing speaking up/speaking out, will, truth, choice, and congruence between the head and the heart. But that's another topic.
Very interesting! I didn't know it related to the throat chakra but had surmised that my preoccupation was at least partly related to the things above. I wrote a bad poem around the time of that realisation and it held lots of power for me and had a lot of references to speech and its personal meaning for me. Although it might not be truth or congruence really and rather be about feeling vulnerable and unprotected and the throat or mouth as a symbol of the power behind that. There are many other issues that affect it too but I shant digress too much.

Your realisations about your centre of gravity as a result of dissociation are interesting to me as the more I think about it the more it rings true.

Springer,
They are both very evocative. I especially like the first if like is the correct word.

I can't post links but Springer80 I think you would really like the sculptures of Antony Gormley (if you google his name and sculpture it will take you to examples) :)

Interestingly enough I made a small sculpture from wire, plaster and then painted over it all, which was in the vague shape of a woman but had a gaping big hole in the torso...it just seemed right to do at the time. But since reading things lately I've realised that the torso is where a lot of feelings are stored, so it's appropriate that i did that

Hi MayDay, I do like Mr Gormleys work!! I went to see his 'Another Place' not so long ago. Maybe making sculptures isn' such a bad thing to do. Cheaper than therapy I bet and probably more effective cos as your building/drawing you are quite subconsciously considering how that part of you feels whilst the your brainy part is neatly occupied with what materials to pick. I've gotta say I've ended up drawing mine cos it's easier. No one sees them particularly so I don' care what they look like.

It's funny you said about the torso whole cos I made a version of me with a stomach that had fallen out. Check out the thread Meet the E.p's.
