First Day Out In Over 2 Years

Yesterday, my hubby and I had our first day out together in over 2 years. It was absolutely amazing from start to finish.

We would eventually both like to move to a quiet'ish coastal village, and I have known for a while just the place to look at. I had shown him pics of the area on Google Earth, as well as trying to explain to him what it is like, but this is not the same as going to have a look.

We did just that and so much more yesterday.

My youngest daughter and her partner took across to the west coast, which is almost 2 hours drive away, at the other side of the UK to where we live now. I had told hubby, but as usual he had forgotten, but when I woke him up and told him he was surprised, a bit anxious, but wanting to go.

So after a good drive over, by motorway, which he does not really like anymore, and a short drive round the local area, we stopped to look at one part of the coast line. This was not the part I had in mind, so we drove a mile or so down the coast to the place I had been thinking about.

We parked right on the edge of the grassy beach area, and went for a walk along the coast line. He loved everything about it, how quiet it was, how very few people there were about. OK it was Sunday and out of the tourist season, but this is not really a tourist area, more residential. He could see what I had been talking about, how close the houses were to this part of the coast, how he could walk his dog in peace and calm, as well as taking our grandchildren for walks there too. There are all the amenities we want close by and all the ones we don't want further away. He like the look of the houses and bungalow's, the village over the main coastal road, everything.

We then drove down to the tourist town, which was again quiet as it is out of season. We had a fish and chip meal in a small café something again he has not done for a few years. We then had a walk on the front and through an indoor market, for an hour or so, still quiet and so peaceful.

We arrived back home, tired but having enjoyed a good day out. He is now looking forward to the time when we can sort everything out and move. It will be at least year or more yet, but now we can start planning for our quiet and peacefully future.

These are just a few pictures I took on my phone, not brilliant, but they show just what it is like there. The first shows a view from the beach back in land, hubby standing proud, though a bit chilly. The second out to sea, and the Atlantic Ocean, the tide is well out as this is how it is. The third is looking right, north up th coast line and the last is looking left south down the coast. It is actually a big bay area with lots of villages and a few towns, including a ferry port a few miles further down the coast.

That looks like a wonderful place Amethist! Good luck! Can't help but notice the lack of sea oats.....:)

So glad you had this... I think we all dream and work towards a nice quiet place or whatever "peace" means to us and if moving there will help make that happen, I wish you the best to get there!!! So happy to hear of the good times and thoughts of a good future. Pulling for ya! : )

You and your sea grass. Would not have been a problem, but wrong time of year for it to grow. You will have to wait until next year when we go back up there, then you can have your pictures of sea grass. :thumbs-up

Awesome on all counts Amethist. You just now have to work your magic on those clouds and it will be more than perfect. :Hug_emoticon:
