So at present I am going through a relapse as the psychiatrist calls it. FML
Typical of depression I don't want to go anywhere or be anywhere, would love that magic tablet to help forget everything. I know alcohol and pot does not work. It may help, but the cause and effect just don't add up.

Anyway, Margaret has booked me a place on a charter boat on the 28th. The wind and wave forecast looks awesome. We are going 50 nautical miles out to the reef for some nice reef fish.

The problem be the weather. The forecast may look good, but here is the first tropical low of the monsoon season forming in the coral sea.

Wish me luck it fizzles out and the weather is calm, the fish are abundant and I have a good day.

Well, I went yesterday. Up at 0 dark hundred and off fishing.
It was a 3 hour steam to the first reef so our lines hit the water at 0900 h.
The problem with taking a twelve hour tour with a load of spastics is that they don't know how to fish from a boat when you have a strong current.
We all have the same weight on the end so your meant to lower it till it reaches the bottom then raise it a couple of winds, this stops tangles. Well f*ck me. I was dead centre at the stern of the boat and had a massive bite. Only to find when I neared the surface that six lines had been let drift and I lost the fish. FML.
So I got pissed off and helped out the skippers son pull in a trevally, then helped with the bbq. Aparently having nice a gesture from me allowed me single access to the bow. What a blessing

Ended up catching some lovely coral cod

The only down side were the sharks taking our fish and the fish dragging us into the coral

Good day, but I came home in a foul mood as I was burnt to a cinder and right now it still feels like I am rocking.
Woke up having an anxiety attack. Its 1 am

He He. Still rocking. Only a few hours out and you got sea legs. Sorry about the anxiety.

Ever wonder where the term "drunk as a sailor" comes from. It's the sea legs. 2 beers and you are completely at sea again. although the land is not moving. Which gives the appearance of being completely pissed.

Coral Cod? Any relation to the tastey northern waters stuff or just a name? It's cod season here, But I'll be f*cked if I'm going to sit in -10c and fish for the buggers. It just ain't right. I'm pretty jealous of that sun burn. The sun just came up here. It's 0945. It will disappear at 1500 again. Why do I live here?

Wagon

We were 70 km out on the reef. Here are the pics of the two species I caught. I also caught baby Trevally and there were some Cobia caught and Mackeral. Some nice fish were taken on the way up by some pretty big reef sharks.
The Coral Cod and Coral Trout are considered awesome eating.

Wagon, how long does this rocking last for?? I stare at the computer screen and its rocking.
Its not making me sick or anything like that just annoying the f*ck out of me.

Only 12 hours on the boat, but it was a big flat bottom charter boat. You have to hang on with one hand while cooking on the BBQ. Maybe I should have had some beers.

Sounds like you had a blast mate ! ...could have been worse , its blowing a gale here and bloody feezing and the sea today looked grey and very rough its been pissing down all week here [Looe in cornwall] , had some nice fish and chips though ..oh for some sunshine and sunburn !

Don't worry mate, I picked an awesome day. Today we are going to have thunderstorms and squalls associated with an Ex Cyclone. Realistically April is the best time to fish the reef here.

Jimmy. About 3 days max. Have a beer and it can return within abt 4. It will go away. Depends on how rough it really was. Flat bottom boat not good for rough seas. Probably slapping the hull as well.

The fish look awesome.

Wagon's right. (well he is a fish-head). Did three days in the Baltic on German landing craft in a force 10.
When we docked (OK beached) at Grossenbrode took me & my mate Zoony two days to stop swaying from side to side.
As the old books say, the sailor's rolling gait!
