That's great, @Wyakin. It is so important to have supportive people surrounding us, especially when flashbacks happen. And to realize how easy it is to lump people together into a "don't trust" pile. I'm sorry you are dealing with ones you are finding hard to manage...I empathize. I am having similar issues, and have missed a great deal of work because I am so afraid of having them at work.

Thank you @Meadowsweet @Suzetig It has made a real difference to how I feel.

@Hope4Now I am a bit set in my opinions of people and once I have made it it is very hard to change but my manager has succeeded. I am sorry you are struggling with flashbacks. Mine just keep coming, one after the other after the other and new ones with nothing other than pain. I am struggling a lot right now.

Amazing that it's the HR folks who are so unsupportive. I remember that, when my PTSD first started to appear, I just wanted to take some time to deal with the anxiety and pain, but couldn't. And I thought to myself, how awful that the world of employment often makes no accommodation for being human. It expects everyone to work like machines until they retire. It's just not realistic.

I am so happy you manager is a smart woman. She let HR hear what they wanted to hear, and she let you hear what you needed to hear, and most important, she listened to you. I am glad she cares about you. By the way it is understandable that you viewed the worst possible scenario initially, because that is how PTSD works! If you have a good relationship with her, she can help you resolve any potential HR issues. Good luck!

I am so glad that your meeting went well. I have had similar experiences with my employer. Whenever she would request a meeting, I would freak out. Now, she tells me what she wants to discuss. She is also very understanding. I am glad that you shared your experience- both the fears and what happened in the meeting.
