ive been struggling with ptsd flashbacks , ive had 4 flashbacks today i feel a panic attack just sitting there waiting to strike. i usually smoke a jay but have given up my bad habit for my fiances career path . does anyone have any helpful tips for dealing with these moments

My friend told me to meditate on a bible verse. And to say "stop" to negative thoughts and replace them with the verse. Not sure if that is working or not. If you aren't a Christian maybe you can meditate on some other positive supportive saying. I once found a ptsd ap from Australia and it has a bunch of grounding exercises on it. Deep breathing. I have just woken up a mess this morning. Started out "frozen", feel that my dream was awful (but can't remember it). I tried the meditation thing, didn't think it was working at first, but my nerves are better now than they were. I hope others give you coping strategies because I need more to make it through my weekend.

I am currently bringing myself down from the worst flashback ive had in years... good music deep breaths and cold or hot liquid to help you stay grounded. Not sure of the severity you experience but mine have gotten much easier to cope with and recognize over time. however sometimes there is just that perfect trigger and all you can do is get away from it and wait it out.

Hello, my name is Greg and I have been suffering from PTSD since 1972 and sometimes the flashbacks can be horrific, only in the last 3 years have I found a good therapist and started this journey to help with these horrible flashbacks, when they start I start by removing myself to a quiet and safe place, then I start a methodical and timed breathing timed to me saying I will get through this and I am OK, nothing is going to hurt me, I then place my thoughts with my eyes closed to my favorite place, the sea shore, I then visualize the sand and the waves, I then hear the waves and the sea gulls, I then feel the sun and sand and taste the salt air and put myself there, yes this does take some time, but it does work for me, I also use this same mind removal system"what I call It" to fly through the mountain tops, it took me a couple of times but I have faith in you, I know you can do it. This is a horrible monster that we carry, yet we can tame it, it does take time.,it took me over 40 years to get help so I glad you realize you need to nip this in the butt now. Gob Bless, Greg...

I have been dealing with a lot of flashbacks recently and today I just feel so tired of dealing with it, I have been trying some breathing exercises to relax and that helps a little bit. I don't know if this will also help you, but sometimes taking a warm shower helps to calm me down when I am having flashbacks. I have a little dog and when I am dealing with flashbacks, it helps to pet him and just focus on him to relax and get my mind off the trauma, if you have a cat/dog maybe that could help?
