Psychologists and below are therapists... psychiatrists are medical doctors, not therapists, hence a psychiatrist should be called a psychiatrist IMHO... as they are extended beyond MD as well, as they become an MD first within their first six years, then continue another 6 years to enter psychiatry.

I have read PDoc before, being a psychiatrist for shorter definition and in no way able to confuse that with a psychologist by using psych... as they are not doctors.

I knew what a SUDS scale was, but I did have to Google to double-check myself on what the acronym stands for. I'm sure that most people use it, and use it correctly, without actually knowing what the letters stand for...that isn't the important part (in this case, anyway).

On a depression forum I used to participate in, PDoc was the prescribing physician, be it Psychologist, Family Doctor or whatever because many saw a therapist on a regular basis but also some sort of professional who had a license to decide on,. and prescribe medications. Something a therapist usually can't do, if they are a Social Worker, for example.

OK, funny story about "lingo"

When I first started using the internet and doing chat, etc, I looked at an article about the lingo. You know, the BRB, NP, LOL and such. I didn't know what people were saying! It talked about how to do things politely, like not using all caps. Also said that when you leave a chat that just like a magician, you disappear! And you announce you are leaving by saying "poof" like you disappear in a puff of smoke, like a magician.

So I was doing that every time, saying "poof"

Then someone was asking if I was gay! Saying, "you know what a poofer is, right?"

Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll, no, I didn't :)

Just goes to show that different saying have different meanings. Especially between different countries.

:oops::oops:

SUDS = Subjective Units of Distress Scale

It is a universally recognized way of rating your feelings or level of distress on a scale of 0 - 10.

Thank you Catjudo. Now when I read Bloom's diary I'll finally know what she's talking about! HA.:roflmao:

Yep... also here KP... poof is also known as a footstool, as well as a poof (gay), often used here in slang against one another...
