Thanks Jimmy, just have the niggle in my head that I will never be a real paramedic because I killed that guy. These new paramedics have never seen combat and I dont think they would understand. Its stupid I feel like they are judging me even though they dont even know. Sounds stupid even to me I never cared what people thought but somehow it now makes a difference. What an idiot!!!!!!

You are not an idiot all of use have some way that we judge or make ourselves pay for shit we could have or couldn't have prevented. Self forgiveness is probably the hardest thing from failed relationships to shit we did in combat. I personally did shit in combat that would well get me in trouble and would make most folks dislike me. It was war and the enemy did the same but civilized people don't want to know about it and when they do here they judge you not the situation. I admire you in the fact that you came on here and came out with ware you were at and what side you were on I don't judge you for doing your job or what you had to do. Cut yourself a little slack. Everything we do in life makes us what we are today and if you can see it that way you killing that person puts you in a bit of an advantage over other medics because you truely have an understanding of both sides killing and saving. I personally would have you work on me anytime because no matter what you have the fortitude to get the job done. If I was a cop and I was hit and on the ground and you were the responder and the person that shot me decided to finish the job I know you may not want to but you would pick up my firearm and defend your patient. That is called fortitude and as far as I'm concerned we could use a little more of that in the world. So give yourself a pat on the back for all those you saved and realise it ain't nothing but a thing a peice in the puzzle that makes you you. TEX

My Father was from Scotland and came here as a 5 year old. He fought three tours in Vietnam. My Grandfather faught with the RAF in WW2 when they took Scots because they lost pilots everytime they turned around and he flew long before any american pilots joined the Air effort over English Lands.

HE always said the French Resistans in France is what led us to a succeful D-Day invasion in Europe and our prompy liberation of the French from the Nazi Occupiers.

So I like the fremch army and their people. The might eat weird stuff but oh well....who doesn't....I just ate bear the other week.

Based on those stories I was told, I can love the french because they were part, however small it was, in keeping my gradfather alive so that my generation could come to be.

I eat bear when I can we have one of the largest populations in the lower 48 here in washinton. Oh dont forget the thousand of american that went to canada before US involvement to fly in the royal canadian air corp and join the infantry or the fact that the US had troups fighting in europe before we intered the war I know because my grandfather recieved a bronze star before the us declared war on germany. I also know that there were american aces that flew for canada before the us involvement in europe. There were even accounts of americans in bith world wars joining the french air corp and becoming aces. We all won the war at least our ancestors did. I still like the fact that my jab for fun has keot going this long. And I still don't care for the french not the army the government and the rude people that act like everything is owed to them we didn't tell adolf to take over france but the alies sure bailed the french out.LMAO TEX

Nobody bails anybody out in this world unless there is something in it for them. I don´t believe WWII was the great ideological battle allot of people portray. In many ways it was a continuation of WWI.

Wagon, I don't really give a shit either way I just find it funny that one little jab at the french has lasted so long. I mean does it really mater the politics of either war they were just war. I personally knowof things that french military did to africans un armed and not even an alie of adeid just for sport. They were no where as bad as some though with the raping and beating unarmed people to death. But it will go on and on and if people took the time to champion thier own country then I guess it would be evenmore differant. Like me I hate my governmentmore than ever because of what they are doing to the new soldiers coming home not what they did to me I have learnt to accept it. The LMAO was for the fact that this discussion was quite a while ago and it still pops up it just shows the combative nature of people with PTSD they may not have any gain in joining it but they sure are going to get thier two cents in. Everybodies brothers cousins uncle daddy grandpa probably had some relation or was involved thierselves. Building with the war mechine or fighting with it. I just love the drive people will show to certain things that are way to far in the past to matter unless you are a scholar or historian. Now it is just humerous intertainment. Other than that Wagon how the hell have you been it has been a rollercoaster here for me and I am at that point where I snap or just coexist. I hope things are well for you and business is booming and maybe you are eating some wiered french shit and drinking some of that good wine youtalked about. Jimmy, thanks but I almost cant accept that thanks (yes I am an ass) . I have made it my mission to save as many as I can, almost an obsession, to the detriment of my marriage(have been accused of being more dedicated to my job than family) and I can see that being true sometimes. This is what I am a damaged guy trying to be the perfect paramedic, and never being able to succeed, what a sorry state of affairs LOL.

No mate, I don't really understand where your coming from, but Oskar Schindler saved almost 1200 Jews and he always damned himself for not being able to save more.
But regardless of how you feel, I am thanking you on behalf of all the people you have saved. And you can't take it back as its in black and white on here.
