Glad that you heard back...that is amazing for a weekend! I went to a place in Tennessee. I went kicking and screaming, but was the best thing in the long run. I hope that SP is the same for you...not to make it sound easy at all...it was hell and really only in hind sight can see much of the benefit.

@Shells I've moved your thread to the Therapy forum because you may find people here who have experience of in-patient treatment and are happy to talk about it. If you do a search for Shepherd Pratt specifically I think there an old thread around that might give you more information. From what I gather, it's a fairly specialist facility so there just may not be many people around who have experience right now, but do look at some of the older threads because information there may still be relevant to you.

And try not to worry about quoting someone wrongly - we need to let you know so that you do it differently next time but remember you're quite new here and learning the ropes still.

Hi Shells, I've been off the forum for a while and just got your PM and replied. SP TDU is a TON of work to get in. They want to really make sure you're a good fit for the Unit and that the Unit is a good fit for you. It's not like a general unit where you walk into the ER say you're suicidal and get admitted n matter what, you actually cannot be acutely suicidal with an actionable plan when admitted to TDU (said my therapist at SP). The Pts on TDU are very complex and they work hard to make sure everyone is the best fit possible for the Unit, this is what makes it such a successful program. It took me 3-4 weeks from the time my T got the packet to when I walked into the building. I think thats the average length of time, but I'm sure some are quicker and others take longer. I feel VERY lucky to have been able to go to SP TDU, very few people get to, that prob why there are so few specific replies. and again sorry I missed your message, I've been struggling a lot and haven't been checking the forum.
