Your question reminded me of a lady who's been coming to our class with a pup for a while, and she has a degenerative physical disability. So, atm, there's only a small need for an AD, but that need is going to grow exponentially over probably the next 5 years.
Her hubby has had a very hard time treating her pup according to her rules. And it's not just because it's a dog, and he doesn't get it. There's all sorts of complex stuff about him accepting her disability, and emotional stuff, that impacts how he behaves around her dog.
It's not easy with family. And anyone who says it is, either has some kind of BS Brady bunch thing going on where everyone is sickeningly perfect and supportive, or they're lying!
