Hi Porky, My Combat Stress comes from the time that I served in Bosnia with the British Army in 1992-93 as part of the UN Peacekeeping force. I saw horrors there that I thought I would never see in Europe again. Like Genocide, My major stress comes from the night that my regiment was evacuating civilians from this Bosnian town that was being shelled by Croat Soldiers. We were moving out the women and children to safety. There was this little girl who was about 4, and she was very frightened. I gave her a bar of chocolate out of my ration pack, she took it, but she dropped her doll that she was carrying and I bent down to pick it up. In that split second, a snipers bullet rang out and blew her head off. There was nothing I could do for this kid. All my training and I could do nothing to save her. Some times I wish that the bullet had hit me instead. I live with this everynight in my dreams, of this kid being shot, if I hadn't given her the chocolate this may never have happened. My moment of kindness cost a little girl her life. How much more graphic do you want it Porky.
