Research Graduate Thesis Research: Linking Ptsd With Spiritual Care

Hi Everyone,

My name is Andrew and I am a Registered Nurse undertaking graduate studies (MSN Teaching and Learning) at California Baptist University. I am in my last semester and am in the process of beginning my graduate thesis. For my graduate thesis I wanted a topic that had some sort of special significance to me. Given my profession as an RN in addition to my being an Reservist with the US Army, I therefore chose my research to encompass spiritual care and its impact on PTSD symptoms. What I need now is research of various groups of veterans with PTSD. What I would like to do is distribute two scales as well as an online survey in order to assess current needs for linking PTSD with Spiritual care. My goal is to implement a protocol to improve the assessment of spiritual distress among veterans and facilitate referrals to spiritual advisors. If you would like to partake in my survey please respond. Again I am searching for veterans populations with PTSD to screen for spiritual needs. Prior to taking the survey I will need to distribute a consent form in accordance with the California Baptist University Institutional Review Board. All data collected will be solely for this research and all personal data will remain confidential. Thank you for your support.

Hello Everyone,

My name is Andrew, and I am a Graduate Student from California Baptist University. I am in my last semester of my graduate studies and aim to graduate with my Masters Science in Nursing (teaching/learning) this coming spring. As part of my requirement for graduation, I am to draft and present a graduate thesis which will involve both research and education. I wanted a topic that would have meaning to me and would have some use for me in the future. As an RN as well as an Army Reserve Nurse, I thus decided to write my thesis on Veterans with PTSD and how Spiritual Care can have an impact on PTSD symptoms. My intent is to draft this graduate thesis and promote the implementation of a screening tool in order to facilitate referrals to spiritual care advisors.

At this moment I am in need of veteran populations to supplement my research. I would like to distribute two forms and a survey in order to obtain such data needed. The two forms include a PTSD checklist to assess PTSD symptoms, a spiritual wellbeing assessment to assess spiritual distress, and a survey which will be in essence a needs assessment for veterans with PTSD. However I would like to do this by the book to minimize loopholes and thus would need a consent filled out prior to taking part in this study. This study is to be strictly confidential with all information utilized for the sole purpose of this study. Furthermore, this study is to follow strict adherence to the Institutional Review Board at California Baptist University.
