Groups therapy for csa

Hey guys

Last week my old t emailed me info on a 6 week group for survivors of CSA that she’d heard about. I’m looking into it and honestly the idea scares me to death. Has anyone had a good experience with a group for sexual trauma (child or adult)?

Thank you for asking this question. It scares me too but am also interested to know if it has helped anyone who has survived csa.
My t has done group therapy before but she hasnt metioned it as an option to me , even when we initially ended therapy ( im back seeing her due to something happening at the moment) so i may ask her thoughts - thing is i struggle to talk about the csa stuff even with her so i cant imagine how i would cope in group.
Again, thanks for asking the question. Im guessing your t thinks it may help you hence why shes mentioned it ?

I’m not entirely sure my current t will think it’s a good idea lol. The info was sent to me by a previous t that I had seen for a really long time, just letting me know that there was something out there and it’s being facilitated by a therapist she knows/trusts. I see my regular t tomorrow so I’ll have to hear her thoughts on it.

Just on the theory side, it allows your interaction with other people to be seen and adjusted.
It's going to be different to one on one, seeing and doing different things.

I was in one, about 23 yrs ago. It didn’t work out and the group dissolved. BTW, it was run by a psychiatrist....
