News Gun Control - It Took An Aussie Comedian To Get It Right

But I do read padlocks monthly! :wideeyed::peeking: Okay, okay. Technically it's a quarterly locksmithing publication.

I figure not only does my house have windows (therefore unsecure... Hello. Glass breaks) but it's relatively insured, is pretty heavy, and can basically handle itself. Got broken into a few hundred times over the past few years (2 or 3 x 52 x 3 = at least 304 times) and the durn thing is still standing there. No one's made off with it, yet. Although I have considered a cratering charge... It's not exactly the house's fault my ex & his friends are douchebags.

I don't read padlocks monthly cause I'm worried about home defense. Again, glass is just so malleable with a brick. I read it cause... f*ck you ... I like picking locks.

<chuckling> We have different views, but this guy cracks me up.

In the states, many people have had so many of their rights as a citizen slowly stripped away over the past few decades, that they can be hypersensitive when it comes to firearm control issues. At times,I have been upset about it myself. And, to someone who has already been through hell because of the dark side of humanity, personal protection of themselves, their loved ones, and their property is very important. During WWII, one of the reasons the Axis powers were hesitant to try to invade the United States homeland, was because we were an armed society. "Japan would never invade the United States. We would find a rifle behind every blade of grass." ~Isoroku Yamamoto, Commander in Chief, Imperial Japanese Navy. The 2nd Amendment not only protects U.S. Citizens from foreign aggression, but also aggression from their own government, should they be corrupted. "Shall Not Be Infringed" is what our forefathers stated, and the amendment was put there for a reason. Truth is, if people really wanted to cause a massacre, they will do so--with or without guns. Take away their guns, and they will use knives. Take away their knives, and they will use sticks and stones. Take away sticks and stones, and they will simply use their fists. You can't take away a twisted and angry mind. The only thing you can do is be prepared to defend against it.

Arms of the US Gov't include nuclear (damn, did I spell say that right/), and drones. Does every US citizen have the right to a drone and a nuclear weapon? To protect themselves from the US government?

For me most concerned about voting rights being stripped away. Democracy what?

Personally, I would loooove to have my own Predator drone or Pershing II missile. ha Seriously, those radical types of weapons are over the top and unobtainable. But yes, basic firearms are and were allowed in the Bill of Rights/Constitution to protect U.S. citizens--not only from other citizens and foreign aggression, but also from a totalitarian takeover. The United States was originally meant to be a republic, with an on-call civilian (not corporate-owned) militia/military.

Most people seem to have problems operating and driving cars appropriately. Yeah, give 'em a drone and a Pershing. Neighbours nearby fight over fence lines and that is with recorded property lines. One guy loves to talk about eminent domain. (Hilarious is that he is an online Minister, and encroached on the Christina Camp adjacent, cut down trees. Almost came to blows. Do I want them having lethal force when they are out of their minds already. Really, yelling about who spayed more weed killer so they didn't have to mow with a push mower near the fence.

Personally, for an asshole like that neighbor, I would select the Pershing. ;)

Which one would I use it on?:(:nailbiting: I am damn mad at both of them destroying a tiny lake. Ecoli, and chemicals destroying it. Yet the kids come to play in the water. The otters a dying, the trees huge ancient cedars are dying, the fish almost float to the top.

In Australia you are allowed to own guns, it's just that you need a reason (eg farmer or sports shooter) and a liscence and there are also a lot of rules to follow (eg keeping guns in a gun safe) and if you are caught breaking any of them you lose your liscence and are never allowed another one.

Just target it at the center of your annoying neighborhood, with a detonation altitude of about 1500 feet. The resulting blast should light all their butts up brilliantly, and with much enthusiasm. ;) Plus, a cool bonus would be that your lake would now have glowing, three-headed fish!

I'm going to spout off once more and let this discussion go.

Let's not forget to follow the money. There are an awful lot of people getting wealthy off selling guns and related stuff. How much of the gun buying craze, after one has several guns already, is really about safeguarding freedom vs. fear mongering and greed? Seriously, how many guns can one operate at the same time in defense of one's freedom? I personally know a couple people that have dozens.

Finally, at what point should we feel safe from government tyranny and begin to worry about the tyranny of a small but well-armed militia? There are armed men walking the streets in some places. Some have even manage to shoot themselves while exercising open carry. The vast majority of Americans want some laws changed, but nothing happens because of very well-funded lobbying groups. Politicians are afraid to even make eye contact with the NRA.

And now I retreat back into my hole from which I should have never strayed.

Good points. Honestly, though, I feel safer where there are many armed people, than in places where people aren't allowed to carry firearms. A crazed shooter, or other type of criminal, will hesitate if he knows many people at the location he/she intends to commit a crime are packing some sort of heat.
