Their officers used to get pissed at us for not serving them first, but our rules were the privates get fed first and the leaders last... take care of the joes

On the ships we had an Officer mess. The ward room. AKA the Weird room. The Warden...I mean Captain dined alone or with special guests in his cabin at a full 8 person properly set table, with his own private chef and proper silver ware. The E-7 to E-9's had their own mess and the best food. They bought it themsleves, hence their girth and rosey cheaks.... (maybe that was the alcohol stash they had.) But of course they paid for that with about 15-20 years on ships in the lower ranks.
Being a Warrant Officer on the ship didn't have much benefit because you had worse food and had to hang out with a bunch of assholes. More than a few Warrant Officers said "f*ck it" and went back to being a Master Chief.
Us apes ate slop and tried to avoid food poisoning. Just because it was served, didn't mean it was safe. I swear I saw "contains circus animals" on some of the boxes in there.
Hey Ammon, Is that you and Uncle Ronnie. Holy Shit. Presidential Meeting. Cool.
That is a cool pic. I should had carried a camera around more but it didnt occur to me until a lot later in life that I should have. My loss. its cool it would have pic's of lots of green with little green dudes with black guns. Not much to see. I was never allowed to wander anywhere near a president. I would have gotten into a lot more trouble. :)
As I moved up in rank I lost the chow fight a lot more. Being a lance corporal was the best. Little work...you could dump it on the privates. And no one thought you knew anything so they always yelled at others. Being a staff was nice but the chow was sometimes gone and the job of being a Marine started to get a lot more political.
Back when I was in being a staff meant that could be your rank at retirement. Very little room in the Corps for growth. I hear thats changed now and you can have guys hitting staff in the 4-5 year mark. I was staff for about 1 year 3 months.Master guns at 15 years now. jeeze!
Eyelids are way overrated. :sneaky:
