HALLOWEEN! BY FAR my favorite holiday!

What have you done to celebrate so far? What are your big plans?

I'm so excited. I'm going to a big party (I know! This sociallay stunted space case? A party? What? ) and I'm not worried about it because I'll be in costume! What a liberating feeling!

I've carved pumpkins, cooked cupcakes with bloody little knives for decorations, had my favorite show The Walking Dead restart, and on the day of Halloween I'm handing out candy to the kiddies!

Here in Australia we don't know much about Halloween. Each year for the past 5 or so the shops are starting to stock more and more stuff for halloween and the kids want to get into it. I really would like to know more about the history of halloween and what it means to those who celebrate it.

I decorated my house for Halloween. We live in a mobile home park and they give candy away at the gate so we will not get trick or treators. Mabe I will go and be with the ones at the gate.

Unfortunately, I've been so sluggish this past month, but I did put up a couple of hot-pink, sequin'd metal skeletons on my porch. I use a lot of happy skeletons and skulls to decorate with so that I can celebrate both Halloween and The Day of the Dead.

My boyfriend and our friends gather every year at my house. One friend cooks dinner, his girlfriend bakes goodies, and I fill up a bag of silly seasonal toys for each guest. Then, all of us in our forties to sixties, play like five-year-olds. Last year I bought the men some fake tattoo sleeves. They had such fun with those. This year I found some nail files with skull designs for the women. Silly-whimsical stuff.

I wish I had more time to decorate, but, maybe next year.

I'll post a picture of our pumpkins tomorrow.:) I have not been mobile enough to decorate this year. But

Tonight I went upstairs where I keep all the Halloween goodies I buy (all year round) for my friends. We're getting together soon to swap treat bags the way folks have stockings on Christmas. (None of us are Christian; so Halloween is a particularly festive and gift-giving celebration for us.) Anyway, it was fun remembering some of the Halloween goodies I'd forgotten I bought over the year for them.

I made my boyfriend promise to stay downstairs while I went upstairs to play Santa Witch wrapping things up with skulls and tombstones and all kinds of silliness. He is such a peeker! My black cat Leo/Lío kept guard.

I have started celebrating Halloween early this morning...I have my authentic witches cauldron burning (yes I purchased a small cauldron from a modern day witch) and mysterious smelling incense is filling the air around me. My Jack' o lantern is lit as the sun has yet to show itself and I have pictures of my ancestors who have passed on, sitting on a shelf so I can honor them today/tonight.

I am prepared with a costume and lots of candy for trick or treaters and although I am alone and have not been invited to any parties, I think I will enjoy the day anyways.
