Has Anyone Tried Alternatives To Anti-depressants?

I have been using SAM-E for about three weeks now and I've definitely noticed a difference. Its a weird medication because you have to take it on an empty stomach so that it can work thru your intestinal tract. Also, you have to buy the entric-coated pills, and make sure they are in blister packs. There are a lot of brands that are just in jars and from what I read, these won't be as effective. I use Nature Made. I started off at 400mg/day and now I am taking 800mg/day. Also I wouldn't take it with any other medications. I have hypothyroidism and noticed that when I took the thyroid medicine together with the SAM-E, it didn't seem as effective. I was feeling suicidal about three - four times a week and now I am feeling remarkably better on most days.

I heard turmeric was as effective as SSRI's in a study. I am going to do more research to see if it is viable.
