Having A Crisis - Looking For Solutions

New Here
Hi, I am not sure where I am in this forum? I am having a crisis right now with very bad thoughts. I wake up at least 5 times a night with some intense nightmares, and have rolled out of bed a few times ready for combat. I was shot in 1996 and it triggered many bad army events along with personal stuff. I nearly bled to death with a blown out femoral artery, needless to say the red stuff went everywhere and it scared me to death, i have an artificial one now along with paralysis in my leg and foot and most of the shot is still in there packed around the knee so there is lots of pain. I have read a lot about the treatments, about talking about the incident and so forth and nothing is working, it seems to make it worse. Tried medication and it only made the suicide thoughts much more intense, the whole ritual leading up to it also. I don't want to upset anyone in here about my problems because i know that each one here has their own terrible delima to deal with. I wish you all the best and hope that something works for you and know what you are going through. Good luck on finding a solution, if i could take it from you I would.

Hi Larry, this forum is to support you, and you asked for help. Then you bailed out and said that you didn't want to impose your problems on anyone here because we have our own issues.

This line of thinking is not working for you. You have to admit 100% that you need help and stick to it. Yes, we have issues too, and when we can't help we don't come in here.

When we have good days we come in here and help those in need. So don't bail out and concern yourself with who can't help you, because there are many that can. However, you will need to stick around and give it a try.

There is a ton of information on sleep disorders, nightmares, dealing with physical and mental pain. Try to read as much info as you can and ask for help when you need it.

The more you discuss your problems the better it will get. It doesn't happen over night and that is why a lot of people bail out. But if you stick with it and give it 100% the pay off will be worth it in the long run.

Take care
Tammy

Larry,
Welcome to the forum. Tammy is right. Yes, we all have our own dilemas and issues, but if we didn't share those problems and experiences then there is little point in having a forum. Having said that, there are no rules that say you have to post. Take your time to read around the forums and the information sections. I'm sure you'll find that many people have similar issues to yourself. We all have PTSD afterall, or know/care for someone who has it. There are also loads of wise people here who support each other, so there is nothing wrong with asking for help. You are unlikely to upset anyone (stick to the rules and read FAQ's), and if you do, it is probably due to their own issues, which is for them to deal with, not for you to worry about.

As for talking about the incident, I think most people here will agree, that it gets worse before it gets better. Apparently no pain, no gain! Also, in my experience, issues are a whole lot harder to deal with when you are deprived of sleep due to nightmares etc. Unfortunately, there is no quick fix, but you will hopefully find support here along the way and realise that you are not alone in your healing journey.

Regards, CB
