Hi, I was just diagnosed with PTSD about a week and a half ago and I haven't begun therapy yet.. kinda anxious about it. I'm active duty Navy, so the military's PTSD treatment efforts are naturally geared toward those who have suffered combat-related stress/injury. But my PTSD was from my daughter's death in 2008, not any of my deployments. I tried group therapy with a civilian grief counselor, which worked while I attended, but because of the cost I had to stop going. I really like the group therapy dynamic, and I want to do that again, but from what I've been told it seems that all the PTSD groups available to me through TriCare are, of course, combat related. I just can't empathize with the men and women who have had to endure the horrors of war, and they can't empathize with losing a baby.. so I don't think the group therapy they are offering will be helpful for me. But I'm hopeful. I look forward to being myself again.
