Hello, everyone! (and my honey, too!) Amethist - thanks for the invite to join. A little about myself . . . I am a SAHW&M. I homeschool our two children and try my hand at gardening and other sustainable practices. I am very involved with our local church and enjoy leading praise & worship a couple times a month as well as handle the PowePoint for our service each Sunday. Paranoid and I also enjoy working with our youth group. I love to read, play the piano, read, spend time with family and friends, read and oh yes, read! Lol!! I spent a number of years - once upon a lifetime - working in the legal field. I help take care of my parents - mostly my mother - and am glad to have been back in our home state for the last year after my DH was medically retired from the Army.

I have lived the military wife life and have taken some of the military sayings to heart - "Drink water and drive on." - "Soldier up!", etc. Because, really, what choice do we have?? The alternative is a lot worse.

My favorite thought about PTSD is . . . PTSD is a result of a traumatic event - it doesn't define who you are and sometimes the choice - and yes, it is a choice - has to be made every single day to refuse to be the victim any longer, take ownership of your life and fight it - for yourself and the people who love you and hopefully, you have someone close to you that comfort's you on the bad days and gives you your time of tears and then says, "Okay, time's up - time to fight!"

Thanks for having me.

Hi ParinoidsWife,

Welcome to the forum. It is wonderful to see spouses here, as the support of a loving spouse can be so helpful in recovery. This site is a great place for information for supporters and for the support you will need too.

Take care and I am wishing you both the best.
Debbie

Hi Mrs Paranoid, I think it's great you want to support your husband, I wish my other half was as willing to help! Don't forget to take time out for yourself as well though, an exhausted carer is worse than no carer at all!

Hi ParanoidsWife

Welcome to the forum. I hope you find the same friendship and support here as all the supporters do.

Glad you husband passed on the invite for you join us.

P.S. Could I ask what is a SAHW&M, if it is not being too nosy.

Welcome to the forum :)

Yes. Having a loving spouse really helps. I am really jealous. My partner doesn't give a s*** and is pretty cold hearted. I think women are better supporters in general though.
