I want to start the Keto diet soon. I have reserved a number of books at the library that I can pick up in a few days. I’m also interested in finding keto websites, if you have any suggestions.

Do you have any hints or suggestions for keto newbies?

What makes this diet easier for you when you struggle to stay on track?

How has the keto diet helped you?

Anything else you’d like to share?

Thanks!

Awesome i heard many great things abiut keto and also for TBI.

I like to do this diet oneday when life is more stable and i have appetite. I have weakness for cheese breads. Cheddar and green onion. Spinach and goat cheese. 3 cheese swirl.

My friend lost 10lbs in 2 months has more energy and skin conditions improved too!

I don't -think- I've been in ketosis (though I didn't have pee sticks to check), but did go LCHF for a period and it did awesome things for me. Massively helped with anxiety and mood in particular.

That was several years ago now and there are so many more resources out there even since then.
I've actually been debating whether or not to try keto for real, but think I will put it off a little longer to give myself a significant break since having my ED.

My advice would be to make keto snacks, particularly if this is your first time and your body is not used to the sort of foods that will be in-/excluded.
Have your fridge stocked with (a variety of) pre-prepped keto foods particularly for your first week. That'll make the transition period much easier.

re snacks, I've come across this site in my internet wanderings of the past <keto snacks>
keto, apparently. the food looks incredible.

Keep us updated; really keen to hear how you go and really hope it makes a marked positive difference in your life.

I picked up my keto books today, 7 of them! A few of them have snack recipes so I’ll be preparing snacks in advance. One of them is a book of southern keto recipes. (I realize this probably means nothing if you’re outside the USA.....think comfort food, lol).

I’ve decided to ease into it and start by eliminating sugary drinks and foods for a number of days, adding in keto foods, and then going full blown keto.

I've been thinking about it since I watched this Link Removed
I cried when I watched the autistic children. I lived that. Im still living it. We are struggling so much with diet because our daughters who are severely autistic are addicted all kinds of junk and sugar and we have to hide things and lock food up and so on and we can't even control our own diets. : (

I'm ashamed to say how long I've known about this but there seems always to be so much to do already and always. We are facing health issues now however and our daughters will as they age if we can't act on this.

Food, the final frontier.

I don't want to go full Keto necessarily but anything would be an improvement at this point. I have the rest of the week off though because my health issue was such a big hurdle this week which is how avoid ever getting around to it.

Good luck I hope it works out and you like it.

It takes about a month to see a change. It helped my migraines and brain fog a LOT but gave me acne. So my solution is to cycle on/off it every ~3 months.

Many people do keto, then get fat adapted and then find out they don’t need to eat and snack as often and end up intermittent fasting.

I did it the other way around. I started with intermittent fasting which got me fat adapted and then I was able to adopt keto style eating.

I've been on Keto and lost 15 lbs, but I'm not on it anymore. Keto got me on more of a soup and burger pattie thing without the bun, right now. I think your body goes through changes. I don't like bread whether on a diet or not.
As much as I didn't want to exercise, I'm having to again, dam#it! I have to fast -walk on the treadmill for 1 hour at night. Tonight I had a can of soup.

I do know someone that has lost 240 lbs on Keto but I don't have that kind of weight to lose. He followed the plan. He's a kid that's 25? Maybe? He looks great at 190 Or 180 now. Best of luck, Eva!

Eve, my hubby and I have been on the Keto Diet for about 4 months, now. He has lost 40 pounds and I have lost 20. I downloaded a free app to my Kindle called Lazy Keto. It is helps with ideas for meals, especially if entertaining. But, we stick to eating mostly fish and salads. We add in an occassional beef steak and chicken to vary the proteins. We are also being more strict in that we do not eat any fruit because of sugar content. We have found avacados are a major source for "good oil" and eat them each day. Hubby has had little trouble dropping the pounds but I struggle. I think women lose slower unless on an exercise regiment. I finally found a food item that has caused me to be satisfied and feel energized. It is called, "Keto Fit" and can be purchased at Costco. It is a morning milkshake that I mix with water, adding in a half avacado, and cocoa powder or suger-free caramel stevia sweetener. I sip on this well into the afternoon. Besides the weight, this diet makes me feel much more alert...less foggy and depressed morning feelings. It is the easiest diet I have ever used and hubby and I intend to make this our culinary lifestyle now. The key to this diet is consuming enough "good" oils, few carbs, and approved sugar replacements. I hope you adjust to this way of eating and see great results with it. ?
