Hi everyone, feels rude posting a thread without saying hi in the introductions first.

I’m diagnosed with CPTSD, but I am also a supporter because my partner lives with it as well…I’ve had a ton of counselling throughout my life and it’s really helped. Although my condition makes me function and interact with the world very differently, I’m quite aware of it and am able to manage and self sooth with healthy perspectives that kind of fill the gaps.

Things arnt great for me… but I’m here ! I exist ! And by my very existence I am of value, and the same applies to yous too.

Much love and I hope some folk might be able to help me with a few things I’m finding difficult right now…

hello feral koan. welcome to the forum.
I’ve had a ton of counselling throughout my life and it’s really helped. Although my condition makes me function and interact with the world very differently, I’m quite aware of it and am able to manage and self sooth with healthy perspectives that kind of fill the gaps.
ditto here. my first formal therapy appointment was 1972, about 20 years before the ptsd dx became available. the lion's share of my psychiatric treatment has been for bipolar, but working with what was available still netted me many effective coping tools and heightened levels of awareness. i'm glad i didn't wait for a dx that made actual sense in my case.
I hope some folk might be able to help me with a few things I’m finding difficult right now…
i have had allot of formal therapy, but my peer support network has been the heart and soul of my recovery. i tend to treat my pros like high dollar reference books. they are chockful of good information, but they never leave the library and my goal is to get them back on the shelf as quickly as possible. it is my peer supporters who have my back in the proverbial trenches and help me translate all that esoteric psychobabble into every day life.
