Hi there, My name is Tony, I am 32 and I joined this site to meet other PTSD sufferers to discuss symptoms and find support and comfort in this living nightmare known as PTSD. It has been just over a year since my PTSD started, and things are getting worse with no end in sight. I spend a lot of my time lying down and crying trying to cope with this stain of mind. As a result of this PTSD, I also have depression and a nervous breakdown. It has also caused agoraphobia, where I am scared to leave my house due to fear of triggers. Feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss this living hell, known as PTSD.

Hello @LifeCutShort Welcome to the forum. It's good that you've found this site. I have been a member here for years and although early on, the PTSD got worse before it got better, it did get better and it continues to improve. Having said that, I must add that it has taken years of therapy, hard work, determination, and medication to get to the point where PTSD symptoms are minimal, but it has been well worth the effort.

You too can have a better quality of life if you are willing to walk a path of healing. I also had agoraphobia when I was first diagnosed with PTSD and was having a breakdown, not to mention that I was suicidally depressed and addicted to alcohol. I Know it doesn't seem as if there is any light at the end of the proverbial tunnel, but it is there, it is just a matter of getting to a place where you can see it again.

I would like to encourage you to continue reaching out as there are a lot of good people here who are willing to share their insights, wisdom, and experience as well as a lot of information about this disorder and how best to deal with it.

Welcome to the forum. Hoping that you find support here. Somehow it is comforting to know you are not alone in it. While I would not wish this on anyone else, it helps me feel a little less like a freak to know that others have symptoms and struggle as well. Good job in reaching out!

Firstly Welcome @LifeCutShort to what I prefer to call the MyPTSD Family. I send a Warm UK:hug: if you accept.

Two years ago when I was diagnosed I literally went into explosive lets smash life to tiny pieces mode. It has taken me nearly that whole time to realize that there is life after PTSD, I will always have it, I will however never stop learning all I can to better understand it and more importantly how it affects me personally.

With self care, understanding of self and remembering that there is still a person behind the PTSD mask, however hurting right now, however damaged at the moment, that persons, still inside all of us is worth saving, all of us deserve to be saved, you me and every member on this forum.

If you ever want a chat, pop into the chat room and there will usually be someone there to just sit back and chat with.

Kindest thoughts and best wishes for your personal PTSD recovery journey.

Laurie
