Hello,

I've been a complex PTSD sufferer since childhood but only recently learned that the way I feel/think/act/react is not normal. Heck, I only recently learned that sexual abuse isn't just okay, physical abuse wasn't just typical life, that it is a big deal when you whiteness the suicide of parent as a child....who knew? Disassociation was my main coping skill through child and adulthood.

After 3.5yrs of therapy, I'm finally getting some relief from the symptoms, though I'm certain some of my symptoms will never fade all the way. I will only learn how to deal, adapt and cope with them in a more positive way. Some days are good, other times it's months of wild roller coaster like issues :eek: Over the last 29yrs I've experienced most exciting PTSD side effects and symptoms. But thankful for an amazing T who has yet to think I am to much to put up with(and I can be A LOT!)

Hello and welcome! You're not alone here. People are quite kind. I'm glad you have a good T, that makes a big difference, along with sheer will to improve yourself! Good day or bad, we'll be here.

@Cryptantha Thank you!

My T is a treasured gift to this fight. We have both learned and grown along side each other over the years. Ironically, I first went to counseling because I couldn't figure out why people were so stupid.....and I screamed at the post office worker one day when they wouldn't let me use the tape. :mad: Why yes, yes I did! I'm finding a lot of helpful information here.

@Panda Bear Welcome to the forum!

There are a lot of us here that don't think/act/react etc. in what are considered normal ways. That is one of the best features of this forum as there are members here to do understand and really get these differences. One thing to remember is how we respond is normal for the abnormal (trauma) situations. With therapy, time and a lot of hard work, healing does take place and it is possible to experience life in the present without the extremes.

Welcome. It sounds like you have a really healthy attitude about your diagnosis and treatment. I also suffer from complex trauma and find it's not a quick fix (some of the adaptations I developed as I grew are very hard to transform). Helpful to be patient with it all as a process. Sometimes it's hard for me to know what to accept and what I really can change still (like my isolation). Hope you find the forum to be a helpful place.
