Sufferer Help With My Ptsd From Military Service

Anthony, I stand by what I said, this is how the VA and the professional psychiatric staff, at most civilian care facilities, view it. I have indeed done much research. I have not attacked any member of this forum, and am really upset, that you choose to modify my posts, or attempt to correct me, simply because you don't agree with me. I wouldn't post here, but it is the only forum left to do so. I did not attack anyone here, I stand by the affirmed diagnosis of the professional medical staff.

At a rough guess, that is due to your attitude. You ask questions, post statements, yet cannot have a conversation, and instead you either go off on a pity me party defending yourself, or attack members. Unfortunately, I am satisfied that you are simply trolling this community as well, thus your account is being banned.

well, I went back to the VA to ask for a second opinion. I got one. I have on recording, the lady I talked to, saying that adjustment disorder is an old diagnosis and they call it PTSD now. I recognize that she is not an end all be all source (as no one is) but she referred me to a VA center. There I got a counselor who actually seems competent, I recommend away from the VA hospital now, as this new place does not require a referral. I also went in for my disability rating. The guy there gave me a questionnaire, when I asked him if he wanted me to fill it out for before depression meds or after. he said it didn't matter, I was already unimpressed. he then diagnosed me with adjustment disorder with personality traits (he used some clinical term but I can't remember exactly what he said.). When I asked him why this has gone on for 3 years and why I'm having nightmares he couldn't even look me in the eyes when he gave me the answer "uh..... yea I would say this explains those symptoms". I need a break from dealing with the VA so I'm just going to wait a bit before I file for a re-eval.

It's frustrating you know. I have never met people who see an animal and say "well it walks like a duck, it quacks like a duck, it must be a frog".

I can clarify 100% with the DSM 5 sitting near me, that adjustment disorder is not the same as PTSD and is not the old PTSD anything. I would suggest next time you speak with said therapist to show you the DSM so you can show them that they're nothing alike.

Good advice I'll ask for it. I looked them both up on-line and I can agree that they are not the same thing. But I can say that I do not have adjustment disorder, because it doesn't make sense why it would be lasting this long, nor does it explain the nightmares.
