tracilarry

New Here
Hi, My name is traci. I am a spouse of someone with ptsd. I have done research and my husband is being treated at the VA. I need to know how to deal with this, how to help my husband and my children deal with this. I am guessing I dont need to tell you all what is going on, i am sure we all have similiar experiences, which is why i am here. Thank you for any advice you can give me.

Hi traci

Welcome to the forum.

Come down to the supporters area to start with, where you will find a lot of useful information for yourself. Taking note of the sticky notes at the tops of some of the different sections.

Then maybe read some of the Articles, you will find in the Welcome area. Maybe starting with the PTSD Stress Cup explanation.

Ask as many questions as you like, one of us will try and give you an answer, or point you in the right direction to find it.

Taking good care of yourself and your children, should be high on your list of priorities, though not all of us do that. We all make the mistake of ignoring our own health at first, but soon learn we have to, as we cannot support them if we don't.

Take care, we can support and advise you as you move forward with your husband.

Welcome to the forum, you will find a special section for supporters / carers. You will have contact with others who are in the same situation as yourself. There are so many articles that will clarify any PTSD mystery. You have made a wise move coming here

Hi Traci... there is a book in the book shop here, The Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Relationship. Seriously, the best $10 you will ever spend in your life as a spouse, as it covers you, him, your children and relationship. All the essential ingredients vs. many books I have reviewed over the years that are nonsense and often supporting in bad behaviours.
