Hi And Hello

My names Martin, 39 years old and live in England.

Diagnosed with PTSD amongst other things, in 2005/6 after receiving a brain injury whilst in the Army. Im an EMT currently working for the NHS. I was a soldier 1990-96 and 2004-2007 with a couple of full time reserve stints for Kosovo and Afghanistan.

Outside the army I was a paramedic and now a lowly EMT unable to convert my previous registration.

Never really been out of uniform, life outside appears...odd.

My injury and the subsequent PTSD were received after being assaulted on camp whilst I was a member of the provost staff. No one has ever been caught or indicted for the crime. I was armed with a pistol - the pistol and my wallet were left so there was no robbery - I had made the welfare officer aware that senior NCOs were bullying junior soldiers and I did the right thing - I pointed the finger. This is thought to be the crux were I was 'hit'.

My previous service saw me in Bosnia, Northern Ireland, Rwanda, Yugoslavia, Kosovo and Afghanistan were a lot of my 'problems' come from.

Flashbacks, anger, fear, vigilance, sleeplessness etc haunt me as well as sounds.

My physical injury, central pain syndrome caused by the brain trauma, doesn't help much.

Well, it';'s nearly three am here. Pumped up with oromorph, pentazocin, buprenorphine and pro pranalol I wait for the JD and coke to work its magic....:D

Welcome Martin. You've come to a great place for working through everything you've been through.
Good to chat with you also.

Hi and welcome. I have read some of your posts already and you seem to be getting around pretty well here. Careful with that JD it likes to bite back :)

Hi Martin

Welcome to the forum.

Gamer is right about the JD, much as it may help in the short term, the long term issues may make you think again about using JD and meds together. The answer is not in the bottom of it's bottle.

There is also a Combat PTSD Forum, which may interest you too. Just click on the blue link at the bottom of this reply and you will link straight to it.

Take care, and watch the JD. ;)

Welcome to the forum Martin. Not much to add as those above have well spoken. The important thing is to really take care of yourself.
