New Here
Hi - was just looking for someone to talk to really.

I had my son neally 4 years ago -13th June.

It was a really long labour, horrible midwife, bad birth, she cut me and was pulling him out. She left most of the afterbirth in, I went home for a few days was really ill, midwife thought it was an infection.

Next day I couldn't move couldn't eat - went to a&e got rushed down to intensive care, had a d&c was on life support for 3 days.

I had septersima and a heart attack was treated really bad by the staff, they had to put a drip in my neck and kept telling me to shut up it don't hurt.

I wondered if anyone had been though anything like this?

Just going though therapy now.

I was just looking for someone to talk to that had been though something like I have.

I can relate to difficult births. Only one of mine was "easy". One involved the delivery of a stillborn baby, one was 36 hours long, and one involved my crashing during a c-section. This is not why I have PTSD, however.

Have you been diagnosed by your therapist with PTSD, Georgina?

Yeah, got diagnosed with ptsd & depression 4 years ago.

I have seen many therapists and commuinty support workers.

I suffer from panic attacks and nightmares etc.

Some days are good - some are bad really bad - I have had 12 sessions of therapy in Yanuary last year for my anger (which did help).

Up intil about a year ago I couldn't get out of bed - look after myself do anything.

I'm now taking the kids to school - playing - cleaning but everyday is a struggle.

I have a wonderfull husband who is my rock.

I'm 22

You had the trauma almost 4 years ago, but you were diagnosed 4 years ago? Was there a second cause of your symptoms? Or maybe I'm misunderstanding the time frame?

Oh sorry, I'm just saying it all wrong lol. 13 June 2008 I had my son, about a month later I was diagnosed.

Okay, I understand. It almost sounded like you were diagnosed before the trauma. Guessing THAT'S not right ;). I haven't seen many people here as results of childbirth, but there are people here with all manner of traumas. I've seen others with trauma related to a severe injury or serious illness, as well as car accidents, etc.

The interesting thing is, reguardless or what caused us to develop PTSD, the symptoms and problems seem to be largely universal. If you haven't already, I'd head over to the WIKI section. There's a lot of really good information there. I had PTSD for 2 decades before I landed here, and have learned more since then than the entire time leading up to it. Welcome. I'm sure you will find good information and support here.
