Hi, I Suffer From Delayed Chronic Complex Ptsd From Schizophrenic Mom

Five years my life was turned upside down, inside out when I was diagnosed with Delayed Chronic Complex PTSD resulting from trauma/experiences from my schizophrenic mom who was diagnosed when I was two. I am now 53. Crazy stuff. Started as nighttime flashbacks to daytime intrusive thoughts where I would just shut down. The triggers are just too many to account and caused my employer to force me out because I would just FREEZE, shut down. Just trying to cope, find my way, define my "new" life.

Hi BelieveInMiracles,

Welcome to the PTSD Forum. PTSD can turn a person's life upside-down, but it does get better and the "new" life can even be better than the old. The forum is a great place for information and support as you work on healing.

Take care and looking forward to hearing more from you.
Debbie

P.S. I love your user name!

Welcome,

I am one of the older ones myself, who has also been though quite a bit. One of my counselors once told me to 'eat well'. It was well-timed advice that I wanted to share with you.
