New Here
I'm James, I am 24, from Australia and work in bushland restoration. I witnessed a violent crime when I was 19, my partner and her two younger siblings passed away at the scene and I was also almost killed. I have since struggled with many symptoms, and have been unable to get back on my feet fully. I have had great support with therapy (EMDR etc), and during hospitalisation. That has got me through a lot but I do still find it hard to relate to most others. So I found out about this and thought I'd give it a try:) I like spear fishing, free diving, music, swimming and bush walking.

Welcome, James.

I often think of PTSD like plunging into the ocean. First bit is all darkness, and confusion, and trying to find out which damn way is up. Swim for the surface, suck air/ choke on a wave or three dozen. Tread water for a bit. Figure out which way land is, pick a direction, and swim. LOL. Usually, because I want to do it all out of order ;) I want to swim for land before I've even managed to surface. Or I can see the shore just fine, but all stubborn am trying to swim against the current instead of quartering it, exhausting myself. Or, or, or. If there's a bass ackwards way of going about it? I've probably tried it. Snort. Takes time, this. And figuring things out. And a whole helluva lot of work. But it happens. Again, welcome. From another swimmer.
