Hi @Cactusgirl
Welcome to the forum. There's a lot of nice and knowledgable people here.

Just wondering... have you had any other therapy? Why start with ECT. It seems so drastic.

Notsowild, I've had misdiagnosed PTSD since I was a child. I've only had talk therapy and medication. The ECT was only two years ago when nothing else seemed to have worked. Only recently was I correctly diagnosed by a number of psychiatrists with PTSD. Now I have a wonderful psychiatrist and a new therapist with whom I will begin EMDR.

Thank you! :)

The patient is then given a medication to stop the seizure. However, my doctor told me that my brain waves are so powerful that they stopped the seizure both treatment

I have a small amount of long-term memory loss but more short-term memory loss.

Thanks for writing your experience with ECT. My mother was bipolar. She started getting ECT in the early 50s when she was 16. She got it whenever she was hospitalized/institutionalized. Every time she came home she was different. She was a violent manic. She did come back with swaths of time missing. I am glad for that. It means she didn't remember the horrors she had done.
