New Here
Hi my name is Kerrie, and I am the partner of an ex service man, suffering from PTSD.
He is now receiving good support from Combat Stress and our local mental health team, after nine years of coping alone. Now he is getting support I have lost the plot, I spend hours crying for no reason, and have a really low mood. My Doc has now prescribed me anti-depressants, and work have organised councilling for me.

I am struggling to understand why I am loosing it now...

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi kerrie

Welcome to the forum.

You could now be struggling because some of the pressure has been taken off you. While you were the one supporting him for all those years, you had to be strong for both of you. You probably did not take enough care of yourself while all this was going on, and now you can, its not something that will come easy.

Come down to the supporters area, where you will loads of information and support. There are a few supporters of combat sufferers, who will understand how hard this is for you.

There are a few of us from the UK on here. :) You will soon feel part of the community here, and find you are not alone with this anymore.

Take good care of yourself now, it is important.

Amethist

Welcome to the forum kerrie. Amethist has given great advice, I'm a sufferer so I know it can be difficult for others in my circle of family and friends to deal with me. I'm glad that you were suggested councilling as this will give time to think of yourself through this PTSD experience.
