I was sexually abuse multiple times at the age of 5. I was a self mutilator I did try to commit suicide 4 times in diffent occasions. I have been in Rehab (mental institution) 1 time for a period of 10 days n 5 partial. It's been 1 yr since rehab, I stop taking my med. since 3 months ago.

I studied Communications of Radio & T.V.....worked on films, Radio, Fashion Shows. Have 5 yrs of musical training. I love film,Music,Fashion, Dance (Arts in general lol) ....Note: I'm a Insomniac

My husband (have to give him credit for liking forums n he is next to me right now ) found this after I was having a hard time one night. He is from the AOL era....LOL I know about forums but haven't use them ever....So I'm new to this lol.....

I was born n raise in Puerto Rico!....but most people confuse me because of my non stereotypical accent....I'm a 2nd Generation Trekkie "Fenrengis Rules".

Right now after a long day my Cat n Husband are sleeping :inlove:

Welcome! I used to cut myself too, only I didn't know why because I had blocked my trauma out of my memory. PTSD is hard but it sounds like you are on the right track. Congrats on your marriage! I'm glad you found a wonderful man to support you in this. I think it is hard for others to understand and get us even spouses. I just got a cat too. =) Does petting her help calm you cuz it helps me when I pet mine. She is a beautiful chinchilla persian like the Fancy Feast cat and her name is Chloe.

Hi! Cindy :)

My husband is getting to understand, he is really a good supporter!!..I love animals..my cat knows when i'm sad is really cute and interesting..petting her helps a lot...I luv art 2 !! Music & painting !

Self mutilation (cutting, picking) is more common than many think, and many people will not talk about it, but I too had my stint with it.

Many people unfamiliar with it often misconstrue it, because they don't understand the release that the physical pain offers from the mental anguish. It is simply a release; some people hike, others write in a journal, some people cut. Now of course we know which of the three is the unhealthy one (there is no "prize" behind door number 3, but DUH). So there are some people here who understand, some of them may approach you (either in public or private conversations) however some may still not talk about. Most importantly know that you're not alone in your feelings and you can be open here.

If you don't mind me asking why would you stop taking your medication. Was it not helping?

Hi mcdean!

Thanks for that!. Well I stop taking med. because I was for about 4 yrs taking numerous of them ( abilify, lithium) the only two I remember at one point I was in between 6-10 pills a day. I got really disappointed since I notice that I would change doctor's but they wouldn't look at the med. the side effects or my weight. Abilify was like being on a psychedelic trip n it was difficult for me to get off it, Lithium was around 300mg in the morning and 600mg at night then it was 300mg and 900mg.

I was training for ballet & other dances (my weight was around 100-95 when I started then 95-90, I was 5'4 at that time) The last one was Depakote, Ok but after all I don't want my baby have any problems (I don't have a baby but we are planning 2 soon)

Note: 90 -100 pounds for me it's OK since I eat healthy. I'm 105 when I eat a lot of food n I'm not training!!

I understand the birth side effects, as my wife and I are also trying. I also understand the weight gain as some of my meds have caused me to gain weight. I'm only asking out of concern, but suppose your husband will alert you of any adverse effects from not taking your meds, just like I rely on my wonderful wife to keep an eye on me during my journey.

Just please be careful, that's all.

Hi,

This is Zoe's husband. I'm not here to preach, but I wanted to effectively close out this thread. Thanks to the two or three people who welcomed Zoe to this forum. She has unfortunately felt very unwelcomed by a moderator who edited her post and then wagged her finger at her.

Don't get me wrong, I understand the desire to maintain a clean and presentable forum, and I'm about as big a grammar nazi as you can find; but I mistakenly thought that this forum would work as a supportive outlet for her, not a source of frustration or alienation.

A few things I would like to point out:
1. This does not excuse any violation of any grammatical rules, but from Zoe's first posting she mentions that she was born and raised in Puerto Rico. As such, English is her second language. A little sensitivity would have been nice in regards to her English skills, which is still a developing skill for her.

2. Far be it for me to criticize, but I find it rather humorously arbitrary that there would be such an uproar over excessive use of dots, font size and type, and bold letters, while having no problem whatsoever with emoticons (smiley faces, piles of poop, etc.), which, I guess is my own personal opinion, but a much tackier and ridiculous form of artistic expression in forum postings.

3. If font size, type, and color are so rigid, why even give the poster an option to change these? If these things are so unwelcomed, I don't see why you would give the moderators more work trying to keep an eye on all of these minor infringements of the forum rules, when these options could simply not be available to the poster in the first place.

That's all I have to add,
Sincerely,
:poop::poop::poop:

Hi Phillip,

How a person responds to being directed towards forum policy and rules, is up to them. Don't try and blame the forum or staff, for how your wife reacts to being directed towards rules, which she agreed to read and obide by upon registering. They are very clear. If you or your wife have issue, then your sole recourse is to cease using this website immediately. Your answers are all located here already, IF you also bothered to read, being a registered member here as well: [DLMURL]https://www.ptsdforum.org/c/pages/new-members/[/DLMURL]

Thread closed. Further disruptions will see your account banned permanently, including smart arse conversations sent to editors. Read the above link, and you will understand the difference between 'basic grammar' and 'being an idiot'.
