I'm obviously new here. I was in a sexually abusive relationship for most of college - it was also physically and emotionally abusive. He was also the first person I had sex with, so it was years before I realised that sex didn't have to be agony. I struggle with it and with admitting it was abusive even now.

Welcome CMD. Like you, I didn't recognize that what happened to me was abuse. In fact it took me over 30 years to see it. And at the darkest times I also still struggle with awful questions.

Thank God for places like this forum, which let me talk safely about my experiences, share feelings, and help (and be helped by) other people. It's totally different than the support you may (or may not!) get from friends, partners, and therapists. I will pray that you find peace and freedom from pain.
