Matt, I know its no consolation, but divorce and separation often happen with PTSD. The problem is we cannot see what sort of person we have turned in to. My wife tried but gave up on me. I really don't blame her now that I know what I was like.
They say that people can change, well I am a firm believer of that now. PTSD chemically alters your brain so your thought process is different. Once you learn to manage that you have the ability to become a nice person.
Margaret see's how I am with my kids and hers now, and even how I act around pets, and she cannot see the angry military type of person.
I don't know which course you did, but the Mater Hospital one in Townsville is 8 weeks long. All they give you is the tools to manage it mate.
It has taken me since 2007 to get to where I am, and I still juggle my medication and still have bad days, but they are not as frequent.
Just waffling now, but if you can manage your medication, work out your sleep and learn to like yourself again mate, you will attract someone into your life.
Keep your chin up mate.
Jimmy
