I've seen that show before but not that episode. The only thing that I can think of is how people who hoard become frantic like when other people start trying to throw things away or talk about throwing things away. So maybe if this person was verbally abused by the parent for trying to make changes to the environment? Other than that I'm not sure how it could cause PTSD. Maybe depression and anxiety but I'm not a professional so I can't really say.

I work with a woman who is divorced from a hoarder who became angry and verbally abusive at any perceived threat to his hoard stash. She says life became unsafe for her kids in the house, so she had some friends help move and throw away some newspapers, etc, he had all over in boxes while he was at work. She had to be prepared for the backlash. When he came home, he did not physically abuse her, but he raged for hours.

From her, I can see how people could feel a lot of stress from living in such a situation (no sense of control/balance) and trying to manage, but not PTSD. Key word missing is Trauma. But repetitive emotional stress does do damage to people, just not PTSD. Not PTSD symptoms, but ordinary, painful feeling of having failed to remedy a mental illness or manage a home and relationship.
