Oh I forgot to answer the question. Yes it was worth it because Bin Laden and his followers would not have stopped attacking us. He preached his evil intentions over and over again. I don't feel bad that we went after someone who killed all those innocent people on 911.

How many more planes would have be flown into more buildings and kill more civilians before it would be worth it.

I can not honestly tell the 911 families that it wasn't worth it. My husband would never look them in the face and say that we should have done nothing so he wouldnt have been wounded or have PTSD or he wouldn't have lost his friends.

I don't see that one pain outweighes another; we are all in it and their sense of justice is mine now.

I hate to be negative here but....I strongly believe the US blew up those towers. There is a lot of evidence supporting this. Bin Laden was only a scapegoat. Come on....10 years to find him?? And since 2005..he has been in a mansion surrounded by 18 foot walls. No one in Pakistan thought....it's odd there is this huge mansion in the middle of this poor commune full of much smaller houses.

And they knew since August of last year that he was there. It took 9 months to plan an attack to get him out? And why kill him? Make his a$$ stand trial just like Hussein. They wanted him dead because he knew too much. On top of that....they dispose of his body as per the rules of his muslim religion? No pictures. Nothing. We are all supposed to believe they sent him out to sea? No one finds it odd that we felt the need to respect the religion of a known terrorist? If he blew up those towers and killed so many people....What rights does he have in his death?

I have watched so many conspiracy therories on this. People heard bombs going off in that building before the planes even hit. They wanted to insure those buildings would crumble. And this would give Bush what he needed to go in and get oil. That is this country's GOD. gold, oil and drugs.

I know some people are going to strongly disagree with this. And that is OK. But I encourage you to research some of it. Research how some of those people that were listed as passengers on those planes are still alive. Look closely at those planes going into the towers. They are not commercial airplanes.

Don't get me wrong. I am happy the f-cker is dead. He was part of it. But there were so many others that got off scott free. And now we are all supposed to be fearful of a retaliation? Any retaliation would be planned by our own government to keep us afraid and to keep us believing the lies.

I am sorry I ranted and blew up this post. I just wonder if other people question this....

Okay, I don't know maybe its because I'm a native new yorker, or maybe I'm just really exhausted over this subject but the conspiracy theorist crap, is nonsense with very little fact behind it. It's delusion hearsay by people who have nothing else better to do beside sit in their huts far out in the mountains and fail to pay their taxes. I don't understand why people think you can pull off something like the troops did overnight?

seriously? should it have taken ten years I have know idea, but I doubt something like this is planned in a year either? I think you should have thought about all of the veterans on this site before posting something like this, I can only hope that it doesn't trigger anyone.

And just before i'm done with this thread completely:

so many others that got off scott free.

Nobody, nobody involved got off scott free; majority of the people involved in 9/11 are dead or in jail and if they haven't been caught yet (which I doubt highly) there time is coming.

I feel sorry for every single one of those veterans. They had to fight in a senseless war. Most came home with PTSD, lost friends etc. I am entitled to my opinion and I feel the troops should never have been over there in the first place.

For the record, I live in a house and I pay my taxes and shave my legs etc. I do all the things mountain people do not. I am also from the tri state area. I am not intending to offend anyone. I want F-cking pictures. Is that too much to ask after ten years? I want his head cut off and one of our troops holding it up for pics. Sorry for being graphic but I don't want to be force fed some story. I want proof.

The US is full of conspiracy theories. It is what it is. We all think differently.

Adrienne:
Im not sure what to say. I have seen some of the "truther" explanations for such claims, but in my opinion they are so far fetched and lacking reason that I would have a much easier time believing that the crackers I bought last week were actually made by elves.

I don't have the heart to argue the points and rage about how offensive I find the gold, oil and drugs statement. The fact that we are both here in this forum suggests that, in someways, we may have liknesses that more important than our obvious political diffrences.

I hope when you are out and about in the world that you will free to have your opinions and even to speak them, but if you find yourself in the presence of veterans, and soldiers and their families you will try to be kind and consider how they might feel too. Some of them might agree with you; others won't. No matter where they stand, these criticisms are often painful and confusing when you have gone to war and lost so much.

I use to flip out when people would see my wounded soldier and start talking about how they supported the troops but not the war or how its all about oil. How is he suppose to feel about that? He has seen his buddies bleeding to death on dirty street in Fallujah and now people want him believe it was for nothing, or worse yet for oil.

Maybe its not necessary for everyone to believe what you believe. Maybe he is one person that its kinder not to try to convert.

He did not go because that action matched his view of things. He went because he swore to defend his country and go when and where our government told him to without question; without consideration about personal inconvieneces or personal politics.

I am not tryig to change your mind. I am simply asking you to think about this before tearing others down as they express their pride and happiness in these moments.

When you make such statements in oposition to them, you run the risk of being cruel to people, who if called to, would defend you right to say it with their life; even it feels like a kick in teeth.

KT,

My intention was not to offend any veterans or their families and I apologize if I did. I am happy he is dead too. I agree he was a part of it. Maybe this forum wasn't the best place to voice my opinion. I am not the kind of person who would intentionally hurt someone.

I am greatful there are not pictures on the news. Doing that would be far too simular to the type of thing Saddam and the Baath party did when they came to power. I think that holding such things back is evidence we still have civility; not evidence of a cover up.
The kind of pain that those pictures being shown on the news could trigger in many soldiers, veterans and civilians who fought over there, would be nothing short of crisis. Sure there would be some who would want to see it; but, maybe it is wise to temper our rage and show restraint for the sake of others.

Well, I am a veteran. And I can see how you think the war was senseless. Bur war has been a necessary evil since time immemorial. Our reason for being there wasn't for one man, oil, or what have you, it was because of an ideology which wants to spread across the world and convert or kill every person alive, topple governments no matter where they might be (Somalia and Afghanistan are two examples) and destroy any work towards a global society. Globalization requires us to deal with many countries in many regions including the middle east. Naturally people see this who believe in a radical ideology and see this as westerners involving themselves in an Islamic affair.

But the WOT is more than in just the middle east. It is in Asia where the Abu Sayyaf, a terrorist organization murders people in the name of Islam, FARC in South America Working with terror organizations in the middle east to destabilize the areas where they operate. The cartels in Mexico that work with these same organizations and bring terrorists into our borders among the illegal immigrants. I'm sure you all know about the sleeper cells here, and the organizations that bring money here from the U.S. to fund their efforts abroad.

Terror organizations globalize just like governments and corporations I can't see how its a senseless war, but I can see how it is being fought in a way that is senseless. We have our hands tied because were accountable to the Geneva convention and we intentionally make sure we don't kill civilians, the Mujahadeen, Taliban, and the others don't. They couldn't care less about it because they died in the name of the greater good. This shouldn't mean we should to butchering civilians: we don't. But we need to stop treating these insurgents like uniformed soldiers because they aren't. They are also not deserving of the same rights and privileges as U.S. citizens, Nor do they deserve to be released because they only reintegrate back into their organization.

Honestly, the way I feel is pretty much mixed feelings. I feel like these countries we help are gonna stab us in the back one day. But we still need to address the Islamic radicalization problem. And the countries in the middle east aren't completely committed to fighting it because in some way they believe in it. Oftentimes the people who join these organizations aren't in it for the ideology but for the money. They get paid for every kill they make; which makes them mercenaries. The war is extremely complex and broad, but if we can control and suppress radical Islam while hurting their allies over here then I'll see it's worth. The problem is whether other countries besides the U.S. and our allies helping us see it's worth.

If I had the chance to go back into the military though I wouldn't. Too much stress, too much politics, and I lack the capacity to handle that anymore.

Hey Cali. Thanks for that. I will see its worth when there is world peace. Until then...I don't think anyone else should have to die.

World peace will never exist with human nature like it is. There will always be clashes of ideology, greed, crime, you name it. People shouldn't have to die but they do; it's a fact of life. And because of this we will always need a military willing to lay their life on the line just so the people back home don't have to see it on their streets. It's good that you want world peace, and it's true that nobody should have to die. But they do, and it will always be that way as long as humankind exists. Unless the new heaven and earth is made when Jesus comes back, but hey, it's the only way I can ever see world peace happen.
